I coulda sworn we had a forum about this espionage RPG already, but I guess it went bye-bye.

Well, a breif summary of the game. Alpha Protocol is a spy-RPG made by Obsidian, makers of Knights of the Old Republic II, and Neverwinter Nights. The gameplay appears to follow a similar RPG/Action style that Mass Effect has, but with more flexability. You have no party trailing you around the whole time, you could go in guns blazing or stealth your way to your mission. The game has a conversation system that also has you on edge as you only have a few seconds to make a responce. I think that if you dont respond, it counts as you staying silent, not 100% sure.

I thought this game went down the crapper because Obsidian has had to push back the release date so many times, and for a while, there was no new news on the game. Well, last month Obsidian pushed out a new trailer for the game. I don't know if this means that the game is gold and will come out, but at least it's nice to see something new. Here's the linky.

    Linky!
IGN Video: Alpha Protocol PlayStation 3 Trailer - A Man Alone Trailer

The release date is now set for June, for now...

I'm excited for this because it's the only espionage RPG I know in existance. I use to gamemaster for a tabletop game called Spy Craft, which I had loads of fun running. When I first heard about this, I crapped myself. Not really, crapping my pants is grose.

I don't think it will be a day one purchase for me, but I see this game in my future.

Read about this a while ago, and it definately has me interest. The fact that Obsidian is making it kinda has me cautious, though.

So pumped for this. Obsidian are essentially Black Isle Studios, right?

Eh, just didn't really enjoy KotOR2 and Neverwinter Nights 2. And I can't help but wonder how much content will remain intact.

So, when it comes to getting this game. I'm gonna going to screw all up by being the guy with lots of guns and shooting everything in sight. Pvvvvvvit, who needs stealth and finesse when I got firepower? :D

Got this in the post this morning and its installing as I type. I expect to talk later, but my cold expects me to die.

I don't think this is out in the colonies for another couple of weeks, any other UK mofos playing?

Rolling again now, got passed the bug by reseting to default key mappings and doing them again.

Yeah, last year I knew the game "needed more time to cook" and I'm glad it got delayed....everything I'm hearing says it needed a LOT more time than what they took...Awesome concept / poor execution is what I've been hearing.

Been at the game for 5ish hours today once I got over the shonkey key mapping.

Yeah the actiony bits play like a TPS from 5 years ago and it clearly needed another month or so in QA to get rid of the petty bugs, but its not the trainwreck I keep reading about and its mostly what I expected from a game thats trying to do 3 genres at the same time without a huge budget.

The dialogue/influence system seems to be everything that was advertised, certainly a big step up from the one they implemented in KOTOR2. Triad dude was not impressed when I joked that all the money he was being paid for shady deals was for bootleg DVDs.

Thats not to say that the stealth stuff doesen't suck balls (not tried it, pew pew pew) or that the console versions arn't said disaster (playing on beefy PC) thougth.

I've heard that all versions are really buggy. I had it on pre order but canceled it yesterday due to all of the negative press. It's a real shame because I had been really looking forward to it too.
