Someone break out their "Stormbinger" and find that panel.

Has to be third party though, if it's an actual prototype, going off the hand.

That hand looks way too detailed.

What is it that I am looking at? Hand looks way to detailed for any Transformer line.

Yeah, that added to the fact that DON's interest in mechs are very varied.

I want to say that it's from "Stormbringer". From some panel in the cave where the pretenders have their secret lab. I would check myself, but I can't. :/

OK then kids, lets start naming books Don has drawn with caves in them. I know I've seen that gun somewhere before (in a TF book)

I highly doubt Don is gonna get involved with a 3rd party company after designing real transformers, there is no reason to think this is based on an comic already published

Do you mean the comment he made referring to other comic book artists making collectors figures from the comics they've drawn for?
    ...
I would agree that it doesn't mean that this has to be a TF, except I swear I've seen that gun before, and the only comic work I've seen from Don is TF related.

and as for Don not being interested in working with 3rd party stuff. He and I had a very short discussion about his need for some prototypes back in 09:

again, not proof, but just to let you know 3rd party "DonFig" toys are not out of the question. Mind, this is all just speculative.

I'm almost certain that isn't a transformer. The arm holding that gun doesn't look like it can transform into anything, and appears to be part of a Japanese plastic model.

Even though the hand is wrong...Zone of the Enders? I don't think it's a Gundam mecha...

its not from any project i've worked together with Don on. And it doesnt look like any other TF book he's done either

Pretty sure he's done some mecha design work for other companies and stuff so thats more than likely an original design from something we've not seen yet

    looks cool though!

id love to see a Don design FULLY realized

Well, we shall see then. It looks pretty awesome weather it's a TF or not.

What about his custom Macromasters? I remember those were pretty awesome, some even got remade into actual TFs.

I 'm thinking the same. From the design of the hands, it's too thin to be a regular TF. Most likely another series' mecha or armor. The toy design looks pretty detailed though, looks like articulated fingers, normally see em on higher grade Gundams.

Hm, maybe Don had a falling out with IDW/Hasbro. When was the last time he worked on a book? If this is the beginning of Don's work in the 3rd party market, then I'm 257% behind this!

In case you guys forgot, Don started out making his own Transformers from scratch, and 3 years ago showed off another design.

    robot-japan - My Scratch-built Mecha!

If Don's going to design his own toys, instead of designing them for an existing franchise, more power to him: he's always had the skills for it.
