When I was 16, I got stabbed in the leg. I got 10 stitches, all the shots, and the stitches were removed and I healed just fine, with slight scarring on the leg (right below the knee).

A few weeks ago, my leg itched really bad one night. I must have scratched it a lot because when I woke up, there was blood on my sheets. I looked down at my leg and I had scabs from where I had bleed ... but it was on my scar.

Again tonight, leg itches. Must have scratched too hard, and right where the scar is, bleeding again.

This was ELEVEN YEARS AGO that I got stabbed. Why is my scar apparently itching now?

I have a few scars on me and from time to time they itch for no apparent reason. I have a big crazy scar on my arm from breaking a car window a few years back (don't ask). The thing itches at random ass times. I have other scars from crap I did when I was younger and those also itch form time to time.

My guess is that the scar you has probably itched before but not enough for you to notice. That or maybe you got some sort of insect bite??

No, no insect bite. Just irritation that randomly pops up. Just strange that it's centered on and scabs up along the scar line.

I know this would probably sound stupid by me saying this, but have you consulted a doctor?

my more recent scare hurts abit but its cos i am using my finger in my work in a laundry. scar tissue does tend to be abit weaker then normal skin anyways. i would suggest not scratching it till it bleeds next time?

Same deal, minus the stabbing part. I have randomly itching scar tissue on a knee, as well as one along my jaw line. My best theory is something akin to what amputees experience, phantom pains. Often times an amputee will "feel" pain or itching from the missing limb as if it were still there. Perhaps something similar?

Is it somewhere where there's a lot of movement or growth, because that could have screwed up the healing process...

That's life with an injury like that sometimes. Deep scar tissue can irritate nerve endings, but maybe you don't feel it for years afters just...well, just 'cause.

It doesn't mean anything, just one of those medical oddities.

    :lol

I've seen providers write "diagnosis: Pussyitis, plan: take two Motrin, quit crying, and RTD" on actual military medical documentation.

Could just be some skin irritation, excema, , or just really bad dry skin. I have one scar on my elbow that gets like that occasionally.

Just use that moisturizer on the side of your bed next to the box of tissues. See if that helps.

That's strange, Kickback. I have one really big scar on my back, and it never itches.
