I went today to buy a transformer and when I got to the toy store there was national guard (army) gathering all the action figures, when I asked about what was happening they told me that theres a new law that forbid belic games and toys( that incluides ben 10, transformers, max steel, bakugan and even police legos among others) . All the toys are going to be incinerated and if you buy, sell, giveaway, trade, import, produce, build any toy related to any kind of violence you will have to pay to the goverment around 80.000 US dollars and go to jail from 3 to 5 years

sad day for collectors and kids here in Venezuela

AP reported this a few months back. Looks like it's going into effect:

Venezuela To Outlaw Violent Video Games, Toys - CBS News

According the this earlier report, the ban covers video games and toy guns. Maybe it's been expanded since last year?

I'm bumping this to Toyark since it looks like it covers more than just Transformers.

I believe he's saying that in Venezuela, they've passed a new law outlawing "war toys"... or any toys that are "combative" or that promote fighting or violence. And as part of it, all war toys, including some of the borderline examples he gives, are being confiscated.

Which is completely retarded. What, are they going to fine children for picking up sticks and pretending they are swords or guns??

I remember when I was a small child, my parents (who were devout hippies) forbade me to have any toy guns. They realized the futility of this mission when I promptly would bite my toast into the shape of a gun and run around the house shooting things.

There's a lesson in this for all of us, but especially for Venezuela. :)

I'm guess this is what he's talking about.

That really just stinks man. I'm sorry for you. :(

    EDIT: What shibamura_prime said.

I find this extremly ironic since Venezuela is spending a metric shittton of money on REAL weapons like tanks and fighter jets.....

I would have loved to have seen a picture of that. Sounds hilarious.

Back on topic. That's just horrible dude. Stupid, too. Is there a law forbidding owning the toys that you bought before this "law" went into effect.

I have read the law about 20 times now and it doent say that you cannot have them, but how things work here I wouldnt be surprized to see the national guard knocking at my door one of these days. This is just umbearable, not to mention the other many horror things we live everyday because this #@&%@ president

    Wow! This is insane.

Yeah, children are the future leaders of tomorrow and all and proper values need to be inculcate early but this move is bordering on the ridiculous.

But it's no more ridiculous than our government banning chewing gum...

Oh, you're Singaporean aren't you? It's always sad, whenever we passed the border at Johor, we have to be wary.

But this Venezuelan toy ban is really sad, I can't imagine what it would be like to burn my toys. I would probably hide them all in boxes and keep them in store rooms. Good luck to you guys, and I hope the ban will be lifted.

This is retarded. Banning 'violent' games and toys is not going to make the crime rates drop. Go after the real criminals and what motivates them to kill; you'll make more of a difference.

I honestly don't see why all the socialists line up to kiss Chavez's behind, especially in light of this.

Outlaw transformers, and only outlaws will have transformers!

But seriously, I'm really surprised that a law like this could be put into effect, and I'm very interested to see what happens as a result. Kind of sucks for Venezualan collectors and video gamers, though.
