Yes, I know I am beating a dead horse..but here we go

I don't care how many arguments get made in favor of fake replicas being more affordable, more attainable or whatever other rationalization people make for supporting and purchasing this garbage, because this auction (and I am sure it is not the only one) should show the one reason that the we as a community should NOT support it. Here once again is some poor new collector who just got completely ripped off thinking he is getting an original prime when it clearly is not. And of course it will get continually perpetuated whenever he sells it since he thinks it is original, that is how he will pass it off onto the next person.

I continually hear and read people's justifications that buying these fakes is all OK "as long as nobody tries to pass them off as real", but come on, we know there are plenty of shady charactors out there who will do exactly this, and then the poor unsuspecting people who buy it will then, with all good intentions, pass it on and on and on. Just because you wouldn't do it, doesn't mean others will not.

Besides the fact that this will eventually start to deflate the values of original pieces and de-value collections (I know some of you could care less about the values...or at least say you don't, because you collect for the enjoyment), the people doing this are thieves and crooks....they are STEALING copyrighted material from Hasbro and Takara . If anyone here in the USA (and most other countries)was caught doing what they were doing over in China we would would certainly face lawsuits and possibly jail. We all know that this is unethical and illeagle industry, yet so many folks continue to support this appalling industry.

It fails to amaze me how many folks are willing to overlook a little unethical behavior and put aside thier integrity and principals just so they can get a stolen item( and yes..these items are stolen no matter how you want to spin it) they normally could not afford, or would have to save up for.

Can we please try and build the integrity of our hobby to an even higher level, by not only refusing to support this industry, but report every item you see to Ebay (yes, I know they are often slow to take action, or take no action), but if they get enough of us complaining, perhaps they will take action.

Many may not realize it, but this replica industry is going to be a huge problem for this collecting community if we continue to support it.

If anyone out there can give a legitimate reason for buying stolen items (and "I couldn't afford it otherwise" and "becasue Takara/Hasbro never re-issued it" are not legitimate reasons) I would like to hear your arguements.

    Gets down off soap box....

I just got burned on a knockoff computron box. Shit happens, it sucks, buyer beware, supply and demand, don't want to kitbash originals, I can't afford originals. Its going to happen, people are buying them, people love them, people hate them, get over it

    Two responses, take your pick:

I sure hope that's supposed to be funny. It's not funny, but I hope it's supposed to be.

    OR

Go blow up some toys and videotape it. That's what REAL terrorists do.

Here we go again. I see the point of view of people who hate KOs when someone gets screwed over by lying sellers, by why should I be the one paying the price (I mean why shouldn't I be able to buy a KO for myself if I want to, and I know what I'm buying) for people how are new to the hobby?? Why shouldn't they just get better aquiented (sp?) with the matter on hand or simply ask on boards like this if the item they're watching is a KO or original?? This is one of the reasons such forums exist.

This kinda reminds me off that quote that says it's better to let 1000 guilty men go free than imprison 1 innocent person, only this is backwards, let's just stop making an item that thousands are using with no problem, because a few people are not able to use them properly.

any fan stupid enough to bid that much on a "MISB 1984 prime" that doesnt have it's trailer stickers or the silver stripes on it in the box is an idiot and deserves to be ripped off.

If I'm not mistaken, thats WHY the factory stickers arent on this thing, to keep people from thinking its the original.

What I find pretty funny is that a lot of the folks who don't mind KO toys, are holier-than-thou when it comes to pirated movie & music downloads and rip on those who do download free movies/music/software..

KO's are apart of the hobby, like it or not. so you better get yourself educated or become more skepticle about buying toys, but whining about it isnt make any difference at all. I agree that KO's are making it harder on the newer collectors out there, but i also agree that KO's are an affordable way for someone who doesnt have the cash to fork out for originals to still enjoy having some bots they wouldnt have if it werent for the KO's. Its not necessarily bad for the hobby, but it may be bad for someone trying to make money off of the hobby. best case scenario: educate yourself before you screw up and pay through the nose for something thats not the original.

KOs aren't going anywhere, so best that you learn about them and know what's up.

Threads against them, hating people who make and buy them, all of this does no good. Education is the key.

excuse me, but i buy Ko's, i Download all my music, THEN if it's a band i like to support, i'll go by the cd. and i just don't really care to DL movies, but i have, and may do it again. i'm just tired of all the mislabled porn when i try to DL new movies, so i just gave up. i let other people Dl it and then i copy it.

I AM NOT holier than thou. i don't rip on anyone, unless they rip on me.

If your so concerned with the effect that KOs are having I hope you emailed the buyer to let him know that he bought a fraduelent auction. Its nice to tell us and everything, but we already all about KOs. It newbie buyer who go see the movie and decide they want their original Prime again after twenty years.

its funny b/c i remember in the past, Rabid squirrel guy Hal or whatever, sold a garage kit arcee that was an original sculpt. The board came down like a hammer on him, b/c he was "stealing hasbros property", copyright infringement, and "hes a crook using hasbros intellectual property to make money" etc etc. Yet when it comes to these KOs its, "oh they're cheaper than the originals", "saves me money" "wish they'd make more".
