What purpose do the two black rectangular pegs serve on RtS Legends Megatron's gun grip? They don't peg in together with anything in his robot or gun mode, so what are they for?

Really? Hasbro specifically engineered that in there for this figure to hold him? Neat... Great, I knew I should have bought that MP Starscream when I had the chance.

They can also be used to help RTS Lugnut hold him in gun mode.

In terms of having the MP Starscream mold hold him, the otherwise pointless gap in the side of the gun stock is where the thumb is plugged in. The "pegs" are where the three-fingers piece goes, inbetween them.
