Wife forces sale of £200k Transformer collection to pay off the mortgage | Mail Online
He'll be back collecting.
Man I would hate it if my wife gave me that ultimatum. I sure would miss her!
I see both sides here. More her's than anything, honestly.
If they're sleeping in their guest bedroom while the master is occupied, that's excessive. I could see a den, or an office dedicated to the collection, but the master bedroom? I dunno.
He also sounds a bit selfish when he says things like "I want them to go to someone who respects the brand, someone who won't open them." and things like "I'm afraid our kids would open them."
1.) Once the person pays, he has no damned right to dictate what the buyer does with it. He can go screw himself.
2.) He's forcing his girlfriend of six years to sleep in the guest bedroom so he can continue his collection. Again, he can screw himself.
3.) These are made for kids, I'd think he'd want his kids to be fans too. Something to share with them, something to draw them close. He doesn't want to. What a jerk!
His sister is wrong, he's not mad/insane, he's hardcore, but not mad.
His girlfriend is wrong by making him get rid of everything.
Bottom line though... he strikes me as a very selfish person.
This isn't about obsession, this about making him happy.
He's truly living "To thine own self be true"
Fortunatley my wife would'n't be able to get much for my Transformers as none of them are in the the original packaging.
I hope some wealthy eccentric buys em up and donates them to a preschool!MWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
Cuz the guys an ass and im glad he is losing his entire collection
I hope he at least got to keep a few favorites. And maybe any movies, TV shows or video games he had.
I can understand his girlfriend's POV, but he shouldn't have had to give up EVERYTHING. I'd tell my woman to take a flying leap if that was the case.
Didn't we have this story before? Or was that someone else?
Edit: "Trans-robo, Transformers’ Japanese predecessor"? WTF?
You know what, with no mortgage you could have a decent life and a healthy spending budget for TF's every month and still feel financially secure, over the life of a mortgage you pay so much interest this would be totally worth doing. More power to him and to his family, but I think it's a pussy-ass move to "blame the wife"
The child shall be named Daniel or Carly. He will find a way to continue his obsession.
Why is he an ass? What has he done wrong besides amass a large collection over 25+ years? Really, how is this guy a jerk? Just because he wants someone who cared as much as him to own them? I feel bad for him, you know he's going to be pretty sad.
If I could pay off my mortgage with my collection, I'd do it.
If you had all those Transformers and refused share them with your future kids, you're an ass.
I gotta say, though... Had the word "wife" been used in that article, I would be all for it. But this is his GIRLFRIEND. This is a woman who, despite the 6 years they have been together, could just as easily jump up and leave tomorrow with no strings attached. This guy could literally easily be without his collection AND his girlfriend. I would require a commitment on her part, like marriage, before I would sell it all off.
For the record, I do think giving your TFs the master bedroom is way beyond too much.
I got my own room for my crap now.
I have a fantastic place with a reasonable mortgage, in fact I would bet a lot less than most on here even. Live within your means and having free cash to spend on Transformers would be easy, especially if u don't smoke or drink.
I don't have any Transformers in the master bedroom though, however Predaking hung in there for a little bit after I got him.
Regardless, I still don't think he should have to get rid of everything
how, bout, idk, PUT THEM IN THE GUEST BEDROOM!
this guy is just insane, first the trans-robo comment shows me he knows nothing about the history of the brand, though, and this is your girlfriend, not wife, do not sell until she proves commitment to you. selling a lifelong collection is a serious matter
third, his biggest fear is bullshit, transformers are ment to play with, whenever i have kids i DREAM of sharing my collection with them and showing them why "daddy" loves transformers so much, now they won't be allowed to touch anything without supervision, but if they ask they would gladly be allowed to play with "daddy's" toys
Plus dedicating the master bedroom to them and forcing you and your girl to sleep in the guest room....thats just too much. People with collections that big need to clean there attic/basement/garage and use that.
I kind of agree with this. The gf ordering him? She moved in knowing his obsession. He should probably curb it a bit but being ordered to get rid of it? No way.
If she's the kind of wife that would do that, then you probably wouldn't
