Hi all. I hate to squander my 300th post to issue such grim news.

My DM came to the store today to announce that the company is closing 10 stores, including mine. Times are tough, and it's a family-owned company.

As if being out of a job in 8-10 weeks isn't bad enough, I have three children and a wife(stay at home) to feed and nurture.

I'm just asking for thoughts and prayers, and maybe an encouraging word. I can use all I can get.

    Thanks folks.

Sorry about the bad news man. Times are tough, but usually there is some work to be had. I know a lot of friends and family who lose a job or are looking for a job and stick there nose up to anything that isn't perfect for them. Well, I've never had that luxury. I have taken whatever jobs I had to take to make sure bills were paid. So, my best advice would be to get out there put in application to everywhere you think you would like to work, and then at least as many places if not more where you don't really want to work. Just so long as there is some income flowing in. Fortunately, it sounds like your job ended on good terms, so finding another one of at least the same caliber shouldn't be too tough. Just hang in there.

Also, a lot of times stuff like this lead people to finding something better for themselves.

Tough break. Well if it is a retail job, finding another one and getting hired shouldn't be that hard. Hope everything works out.

Sorry to hear that, keep your head up though, I am sure you find something.

Things are tough, I work in car sales and a lot of dealers are closing and my pay is being adjusted, I don't feel like I have a lot of options now.

Good luck bud! I'm sure that you can find something else in your field, even if it is sucky till you find the right one. They say things happen for a reason, maybe this is also the case for you in this situation. Hoping the best for you man.

    Sorry to hear :(

So what are you going to do? Have any ideas where you're going to go from here?

8weeks is a decent time period to find new work , but it sucks being forced into finding one. Have you made a resume yet? That manager like experience will look good on ya

Yes, I would like to say that after having worked at that level, you could find another job pretty easily. Even if it's not in the same field, management experience is experience. Good people handling skills are something employers are always after.

I will send positive thoughts your way, I hope a light appears at the end of the tunnel for you soon.

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers and kind words folks. So far I've had one great interview, and another scheduled for tomorrow morning. The first job offer wasn't to my salary needs, but there are other options with the company that may present themselves in the coming days. The interview tomorrow is for a position in a bank, which is an industry I've not worked in previously. I'll be drawing on my years of management experience to get in the door and learn a new trade if it works out.

Anyway, just having interviews makes the situation much less stressful, as it makes me realize there are possibilities out there.

Once again, thanks for all the support...and please keep up the thoughts and prayers, I can't stand the thought of not providing for my family.

Move to BC or Alberta Canada. We have the lowest unemployment in history. We can't find enough people to work. There are places in Alberta where fast food pays 15 bucks an hour.
I know where I work we are desperate for Retail managers
