So I got this idea from another thread. So here goes, what things do you remember from your childhood.

The clean one for me is those quarter drinks that was pretty much just water, food coloring in a plastic container that looked like a clear wodden keg with that silver peel on top. You would always argue which flavor was the best, even though it was all the same shit.

The dirty one for me. The way all of our friends would find porn and share it with each other. There was a store near my house, and we use to send our friends 8 year old brother to get it and say it was for his dad. His dad use to buy cigarettes there all the time and the lady thought he was perv. Classic.
Also, I remember a naked image of a girl use to take like 30 minutes to 1 hour to download on the C64, and it took a shit load of space up too. Also, Strip Poker on the C64 was awesome.

    Ahh how times have changed.

Absolutely nothing. My childhood was boring.
    WAIT. I REMEMBER THE SHOCKER.
There used to be a place in my town that sold slushies, and my friends and I used to make bets over who could drink a slushie with the most "shocker," basically a shot of sour flavoring. After years, I finally won when I drank a cup full of the stuff straight. Don't know why it took me so long to think of that.

Got one of those like 5 minutes from me.

How about Slush Puppies. I use to ask if they could do like 20 pumps in it. I use to love the blue.

I remember Transformers & Power Rangers being the coolest things ever, slurpies claiming the literal sense of that appreciation, and people actually being alarmed by the word "porn".

Beepers. I remember my mom thinking I sold drugs because I had a beeper. Later I went on to sell Pot for 6 weeks. Did I become a drug dealer because of the beeper? Hummmmm.

Beepers, the gateway to drug selling. They were right....

Which brings me to another thing I remember. Those cable boxes that if you put in a channel, and then hit 0 on the cable box, and then stuck a toothpick in the 0, you were able to get that channel for free.

The reason I said that is because the reason I sold pot for 6 weeks is because I gave a friend of mine my illegal cable box and he gave me a brick of pot that I could never smoke, so I had to resort to selling it.

    Discovery Zone.

Seeing G1 Transformers in toy stores.

Seeing green-spined Fighting Fantasy gamebooks in bookstores.

Watching vintage Ultraman and Super Sentai on television.

The entire VHS experience, including taping shows off the telly.

    The sound of dialup.

Oh, and if anyone from Malaysia happens to read this - I actually remember the time when the Sogo department store in KL had one of the most magnificent toy sections ever. Gundams out the wazoo, among other great stuff, along with an astounding structure that was this Rube Goldberg machine featuring turning wheels, pulleys, cogs and little toy soldiers doing amusing things. That's where I bought all my Attack Pack toys; I'm tearing up just thinking of it. :(

Second grade. Got in trouble for proposing the idea of Spiderman shooting web out of his nipples.

I use to wish beer came out of girls boobs. But that was college, not when I was a kid.

I remember seeing fist of the north star for the first time and trying to do the fast punch.

I remember going to arcade and stuffing the SF1 machine with quarters. Then literally going broke when Street Fighter 2 came out.

I remember the Midnight Pumpkin remote control car. I remember later buying the Yokomo YZ-10 belt drive car and supping it up with an insane motor that I had to buy 5 battery packs as one lasted me only 4 minutes with the battery pack I had.

Here is the pic of the YZ-10.

Damn, I forgot to mention black and white Game Boy. Also, SNES and Ultima Underworld on the PC.

You were a visionary. A young man before his time. In these days of Rule 34, that shit is now a dime a dozen.

My best friend was Japanese and he always had the Japanese systems and games a good year before the US. So I use to play the shit out of the games before they hit the states.

Toy's R Us use to have those display cases with 5 minute play periods. The first day Super Mario Brothers 3 came out, these kids were playing it messing up and everything. I beat the game in like 4 or 5 go's at it. People were like yo, let him play, he is like a natural at this game. LOL.

I remember the PC Engine with the Laser Disc, and playing Ys 1 and 2 till like 4am for week straight.

I remember beating Ghost and Goblins only to realize you had to beat it again without continuing, fuck that noise!

Let's see how far I can go back :D

My first ever action figure. Pretty sure it was LTC Steve Austin, the Six-Million Dollar Man. Had that elastic "sleeve" on his right arm that kept his bionic parts in place on the arm - and that after a few times rolling up and down the arm just got frayed and worthless. I had his rocketship base too. Loved that toy. Watched the TV show religiously.

TV shows - Star Blazers. The Incredible Hulk. Wonder Woman. The Dukes of Hazzard. Welcome Back Kotter. The Jeffersons. WKRP in Cincinnati. HR Puffnstuff. The Superfriends.

STAR WARS. Begged my mother to take me to see it after reading my cousin's Marvel comic adaptations. Thus began a love of toy collecting and science fiction.

Other movies: Superman. The Black Hole. Pete's Dragon :D  Herbie movies

Icee's - later replaced by Slurpees.

Oh yeah, the electronic hand-held football game where you were the red blip going up against a 3-blip defensive line and 2-blip secondary. It was mesmerizing.

Video arcades (Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Qix, Berzerk, etc)...and my Coleco Vision. God I loved that system.

All I can think of for now...

Building my own mech base body and making a ton of different robots based on that, all of which transformed into a vehicle of portionional scale, they were scout sized but lots of fun and usually harmonic in color :p

Being tortured by 3 japanese friends who had awesome toys, mostly zoids, but also one Fort Maximus when they usually said they didn´t care for ANY of those toys and that they would give them all to poor me if their parents allowed... that was damn cruel, seriously.

Watching Terminator 2 in the theatre at the tender age of four. My first ever theatre experience.

Also, watching the film that brought out the horndog in me: Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

In my point of view? Better off. For me, nostalgia hurts... alot.

Everything I loved as a kid, is now more corporate then it already was. Or gone.

Cartoons on TV? Gone. (I don't have a converter box.) Awesome Mcdonalds toys? Gone. Simplicity? Gone.

In its place, is a world where. I have to "Stream" and keep a "cellular device" on me at all times. Where, I could just shut my brain off and watch a stupid cartoon, without worrying about "The heroes journey".

My gameboy? No longer is it a simple doofy game playing machine. Now it streams movies, plays music, and if you look at the wrong way. It will explode.
My Television(If I could use it.) Is now, a monitor for my computer, that I go on various forums and watch videos, and socialize on my popular social networking site.

These things, that supposedly make the world better? Don't. It makes us lazy as fuck, and things just arn't as simple as they used to be. This digital age... is disgusting to me.

I'm afraid that in a few years? We wont even have dvd's or blu-ray, it will all just be digital. Hell, even bestbuy is slowly going out of buissness and going more so on the online ruote.

=/ I miss doofy stores, where I could just go in, and not know what I am to expect, because it sells toys, candy, comics, and who knows what else, instead of Walmart... where I suddenly have an agenda.

90's, I miss you. I miss you so much, I want to be a child again, and bathe in your awesomeness. Even if you where a little doofy. I'd love to just do things, to do things.
