So, the Mrs. and I are headed out to Littleton on Thursday for a week, and was wondering what some people who live out or have visited there like to do?

We're visiting family some, but will definitely be our own thing a lot as well. I know I want to head to Denver for a day or two, but outside of that I really don't know much about the state outside of the major stuff you can Google.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Since you're into photography and are willing to make the drive, go to Estes Park, you can get very nice shots of wildlife there. My parents just came back from a photo shoot there and said they had the time of their life and saw tons of different animals. Also, check out the alpine slide up in Purgatory, it's really fun.

there's biking, running, ice skating (they have rinks there), and pretty much anything else you could think to do in a cold state with varying terrain. as for snow related activities, they're probably a bit deeper in the mountains where it's colder and as it cools off, you can find that stuff anywhere in the mountains. there's also a theme park there called Elitch Gardens. got some unusual rides there. and i also heard about a huge brewery in downtown but i'm not sure if it's in Colorado or Ohio.

to be honest, that's all i can think of off the top of my head. and really all that i did/do out there (minus the brewery). hope you two enjoy it!

EDIT: forgot about the scenery. so to echo SkywarpsNipples, you should head up to Estes Park

I used to live up in Dillon (Keystone Resort), about 45 minutes west on 1-70. Alot of my friends have been posting pics over the weekend on Facebook of hiking/biking on the ski runs/fire roads/passes. Since you have a week it might be worth taking a day trip up to the mountains.

Thanks guys. Estes park is going to be a must it seems, and the mountains sound fun too.

Estes is beautiful; a bit of a drive though.

There's a Budweiser brewery north about an hour. I haven't been there in around 10 years, but it was awesome last time I went.

The Denver Zoo is wonderful. I go at least once a year.

I think Elitches started their halloween stuff if you like theme parks.

    There's numerous TRU's too. :D

edit: The Denver museum of nature and science is right next door to the zoo, and is never a disappointment. I think they have a full scale model of the Curiosity rover right now.

edit 2: Eat at Pappadeaux's at least once. Probably the best landlocked seafood ever.

    Two words:

    Casa Bonita.

Thank me later after you try the sopapillas.

Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs is awesome as well, and not too far away. And they have public tours of the Olympic training facility out there as well if memory serves. Those are a few of my favorite things since the NHL is locked out and baseball is over too.

visiting the Air Force Academy has always been one of my favorite things, though I haven't been in years. You might also ask in the CO sightings thread to get more specific, local things. I'm in that area at least 2-3 times a year, but mostly just hang out at my cousins house, watch movies and look for toys.

If you're up to traveling, there's always the Royal Gorge. But from Denver to Canon City is going to be a few hours in driving. Worth it if you ever wanted to walk across the world's tallest/highest suspension bridge. I live in the Springs and sometimes I hitch a ride with friends to go to the incline. But, if you do that.....bring a camel back with you. I see people bring one bottle of water and its already empty half way up.

Also, if you do come down to Colorado Springs, try Garden of the Gods too. Quite scenic as well. Plenty of places to go actually if you're an out doorsy type person.

A friend took this shot of me at the top of the St Mary's Falls trail:

And this was the picture I was taking while my friend took that pic of me (I swear it looked better in person  ):

And in case no one's ever really hiked to the top, you get to see this lil memorial:

Any and all breweries. Fort Collins has by far the most and biggest breweries, but breweries are littered across the state.

You could go find a Sasquatch.

Make sure to take lots of pictures of it.

Like someone else mentioned, Colorado is great for photography enthusiasts. Colorado Springs area in particular... Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, and Seven Falls are really good spots.

TJ...hope you're having a good time. I always loved Cheyenne Mountain area and Garden of the Gods.:thumb

Based on today's weather report...I would add skating or skiing as an outdoor activity. :p
