I walked into Game Crazy near my house and asked them if they had any Wiis.
I really wasn’t expecting them to say “yes”, but they actually did and I bought one. This was the FIRST time I had actually seen a Wii in a store.
(They had received 4 at noon and had 2 left at 2:00 when I was there.)

I only have WiiPlay and WiiSports right now but it is fun stuff.
Watching my wife play tennis with my son almost caused a urinary tract malfunction.

My kid really has his eyes on Paper Mario and Sonic and the Secret Rings.
Has anyone played them? Are they good for a six-year old?

Sonic has the minigames which look like fun, but Sonic for the 360 has left a really bad taste in my mouth. Still, the game is for him.

Lastly, are there any games that let you play online against human opponents now? I know Smash Bros. has it planned, but there don't appear to be any now.

I've loved my Wii ever since we got it at the start of January. Currently we have Metal Slug Anthology, Zelda, Paper Mario, Trauma Center, Cooking Mama and an ass ton of VC games.

Best times for a Wii right now, just like since release seems to be the mid to late week, early afternoon. I know around where I am they woudl actually announce them on teh PA once the shioment arrived due to the demand.

If it's a Mario game and a Sonic game, then yes, it's good for a 6 year old.

Are they good games? I dont know this one.

Just something to help you with. If you don't know what your talking about, don't post something stupid, or instead ask for informatin to better your knowledge and know that the Wii is a capable machine

I would have agreed with you before I bought Sonic for the 360.
There are elements in that game that are essentially "on rails" yet Sonic will glitch through springboards and fall to his death. There are platforming segments that are nigh impossible because the camera twists as you try to reach them and up becomes down or left or whatever. There is even a bridge in the town that you can't walk across at the slowest speed because the camera will spin in circles.
You literally have to jump over the bridge. I could go on and on, but let me say that game shook my faith in Sonic and moreso in Sega.

I have been watching some videos of Paper Mario and I think it would be good for the kid, and great for me! :)

Super Paper Mario and Sonic are both great games for ANYONE.

Secret Rings is a masterpiece when compared to any of the 3D sonics released to date.

Uhm... Sorry if I came off as if I was bashing somthing.

I just meant to post that mario and sonic games are good games for children to play. I just never played those two particular titles though.

But just 'cause something is obviously appropriate for kids doesn't mean it's a good choice for kids, ya know? While I've heard that they're both excellent, it's not always a good idea to comment unless you know first hand. :)

And to actually contribute to the topic, I don't think any of the Wii games have online multiplayer yet. That's at least partly because Nintendo has been late in getting the online SDK out to developers.

And I thought Smash Bros. would be -LOL!
I don't know how many of you have kids, but I'll rent the games and let you know.
Although, I gotta say those videos of Paper Mario made me go "Cool"!

Still, this is supposed to be more for the kid than me...

Both games would be rather good for kids for the most part. But of course, there are plenty of challenges for the adult player as well.
