Hey all, I thought it would be a good time for a quick reminder and reality check for everybody unclear of the pricing trends for transformers.
    Lets go back two years:
    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/217087-wal-mart-raises-price-deluxes.html
Any of that sound familiar? It's the same stuff were seeing in alot of newer threads right now. It seams that every January some collectors just forget that the last 2 or 3 months of $7 to $9 dollar deluxe figures were a SALE price. The suggested retail price of deluxe toy is around $12 and has been for several years. See Hasbro's site:Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen Movie Toys, Games, Video Games - Official Transformers Product Catalog
You will notice even ROTF toys had a retail price of $12.99 even though none of us paid $12.99 when Rotf toys came out. Why didn't we pay that price? Competitive pricing during a time of high demand when retailers are more concerned about volume then per unit profits. High demand periods such as a holiday season or maybe the launch of a blockbuster movie. It is this same reason you will not pay the retail price when DOTM toys come out.
I understand nobody wants to pay more for something if they can avoid it. However, let's maintain some perspective and accept that $12.99 is the price of Deluxes and has been for a while. If you can find it for less um...buy it.

Look here bud, I didn't get into the TF Fandom to hear "facts" and "rationality." If I have to pay an extra 30 cents for a figure then you have to hear me bitch about it!!!!!!!!

I just ignore those threads every year. The toys go on sale after "Black Friday" and go back to normal in January. People bitch and complain like the price has always been that way. Heres the kicker. People say they will cut down in their collecting but after a month or two they're back buying to their old spending ways.

Oh great! Next thing I know you'll be telling me that there is no such thing as Santa or lipstick lesbians! Is nothing sacred? :mad

Nah, I get annoyed by the "price increase" rage as well but it's easier to ignore then get all worked up about it.

Anyways, it's best to just ignore those who get all butt-hurt over this nonsense.

Ignoring issues don't make them resolve themselves. This thread should be stickied.

Tj maxx and marshalls ALWAYS have buy one get one half off. It's ridiculous that every retail store does not do the same! Who's with me in boycotting Target, toysrus and every other retail price store?!?!? Group gathers while omega145 sneaks out to local tru and target to pick up new wave figures at retail price....:)

As of Universe 2.0 deluxes were still 9.99 and I think that's around the time they went up. But yeah, they've more or less stayed there ever since.

Isn't there two different issues at play here?

    1) Deluxes selling for $9-$10 and PCC selling for $15 during the holiday season and now back to $12-$13 and $20.

    2) Reports of legends ($5->$6), scouts ($6-7 -> $9-$100, PCC 2-packs ($10->$12), and other prices going up at Target and may or maybe not to be followed by other retailers.

The prices haven't gone up at any of my local Targets. And I would certainly hope no one is charging $100 for a scout! :p

And I doubt other stores will start hiking up their prices because one does. If one place starts charging more, then the stores that are charging less will make more sales, which means more money. Economics 101.

Hey you! The one using the logic. Shut up. This is transformers fandom, we have no room for that sort of fancy-like thinking.

If there is a list about what people in the tf fandom complain about, its a long long long list.
