    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Before Animated...
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fandom: We need an American-written show! These Japanese shows are stupid and never go anywhere.

Fandom: WTF is this stuff? Animated is going to suck balls!
Me: We all thought Beast Wars was going to be horrible. I'm excited to give this a chance!

Me: I'll probably enjoy the show, but I'll pass on the toys.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    After Animated...
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

Me: Well crap. That was stupid and never went anywhere.

Fandom: Why is Animated going away? Best series ever!
Me: Wow, animated did suck balls after all...

Me: I gave up on the show, but I bought almost all of the toys

Anyone else experience complete reversals like that?

not really, from what I remember, the majority of the fandom loved Animated the moment it was announced. I still disliked it, but love the toys that came from it. But, yeah , Beast wars did suck

I remember certain members of the TFW staff who got to see an early preview prominently said it would be awesome. I remember an awful lot of other people complaining about Starscream's chin, and panicking about what the HELL kind of semi-human creature was Sari supposed to be. Funny how they turned out to be right about Sari... Earlier than that, when all we had was a fragment of the premise, and no pictures, the "give me an American show" crowd was fairly happy, but there was a lot of concern about the show being Decepticon deficient. They were right about that too :(

I didn't mind the stories in BW, but I think the CG was too new for them to use it properly at the time. It wasn't fluid enough, so it just ended up looking like today's animatics for movies. Do BW again with today's technology, and you might be onto something. I do have to give them props though for making the toys look so much like the CG (or vice-versa.)

I loved every second of Animated myself. And yes, I have all the toys too:thumbs2:

I recall TONS of anti-Sari rants and posts. THEN when she was left out a few episodes the same people were posting "WHERE THE F IS SARI????" And so on...
    Funny.

eh, my love for animated only grew.

the only real reversal I've had with TFs is with the movie toylines. I found the first one boring, so I only got a handful of figures from it, but now I love the ROTF line, and I'm going to end up getting the 1st movie versions of blackout, ratchet, and leader class brawl to complete the cast. these are toys I saw on shelves for well over a year, and I had absolutely no interest in until now.

I saw preview pics of Animated and thought "This is a joke made by a 12 year old fan"

    Still gave it a chance.

After watching a season and a half and then seeing the Animated boards I thought "This is a joke made by a 12 year old fan"

So honestly my opinion really didn't change though I did appreciate the writing and voice acting on the show. That is the silver lining for Animated.

The only sort of attitude change I've ever gone through for any new direction (admittedly it's only happened twice so far due to me only getting really into Transformers at the start of Cybertron) is:

First images: "Ooooookay...kinda weird, I'll see how this goes"

    After it happened: "THATWASFREAKINAWESOMEIWANTMORE"

I'm a very open-minded and positive person, mmkay?

Animated kicked ass. I'm not sorry it's gone, though. Better to lose it while I still love it then to have it drag on until I don't like it anymore.

But it was funny, when the first pic of Optimus leaked, I was trying to defend it, then when the group shot came, I hated it like everyone else, now I love every aspect of the show.

The only reversal I'm currently going through is:

I loved the first Bayformers, and people constantly needed to remind me that it was stupid.

I greatly dislike the second Bayformers, and people now are bitching against me for not liking it, even going as far as calling me a Geewunner. :lol

Mind that I'm not trying to constantly try to make people think it sucks, nor do I have the need to bash people personally.

I love Animated. The first picture of Prime was definitely a 'wtf' moment, still think it's a horrible picture. then the group shot came and I liked it. Then I watched the first episode and was somewhat underwhelmed, but I kept watching and now I love it!

    Then:
With Bayformers 1 I was like where is the quest for the minicons. This feels like a live action episode of Armada. Please, don't let Bayformers 2 have that quest or I'm waling out.

    Now:
Except for the attempt at comedy which failed big time, I'm like good step forward. Just leave the comedy out of the third one and the series might actually work out.

    Then:
With Animated, as long we don't have the kids from AEC this could work. Let's wait and see.

    Now:
When is season 3 DVD coming out?

I really tried to like animated when it first came out. I'd record episodes and try to hype myself up. But I just didn't like it. then a friend loaned me the first to seasons on DVD and watching then back-to-back I really did get into it. Now I can't wait for S3 to come out.

When a new Transformers series comes along (particularly ones that are significantly different from the norm), I'm usually quite open-minded about it and will give it a chance. I will never let my friends forget that they slagged off Animated after seeing one image of Optimus Prime, and then became big fans of it afterwards.

Were you in the Shattered Glass mirror universe during this time? Because:

    - When Animated was first announced, an unbelievable stream of hatred and bile erupted from this forum (which is one of the more pro-Hasbro forums) and most likely every other TF fan community. Hasbro jokingly said said that their designer on the series (most likely referring to Eric Siebanaler), "almost had a stroke" when he read the comments. It was only after people watched the show (almost a year later) that they began to appreciate it.

    - Beast Wars definitely DID NOT SUCK. That is a majority consensus of the TF fandom that Beast Wars was the greatest Transformers televisual series ever made, with Animated the only one to approach it in terms of story telling and characterisation.

It's all encompassed in the awesomeness of Sideswipe, therefore it ALL has to be awesome. Even if we as mere humans don't understand it, doesn't mean it's not awesome. It only means we don't fully understand the nature of the awesomeness. That's ok, Sideswipe still loves us!

Actually, I had the reverse... I was not going to like it, then I did. It's actually a decent show... it's better then anything else they've come up with... including memorable characters such as Lugnut, Shockwave, and Sunstorm! Plus, who can forget LOCKDOWN?! I don't see what there is to hate about it, other then the boring ending... WE WANT ANOTHER SEASON!!!

Okay, I will try to limit my praise of the awesomeness to threads more appropriate.
    Remember, Sideswipe loves you!

The only flip flop in feelings I did for a show was RID. Excited to watch it, looked great, then.... yeah. Least favorite TF show ever.

I actually also feel this way too. RID looked good but had lousy writing. Animated looked bad but had good writing. Put them together and you get one really good-looking well-written show and one that should be confined to the depths of madness. :)

Definitely my biggest flip-flop would have been Energon. After Armada, I was really excited for Energon, and it started out well enough to decieve me into thinking that it was going to be so much better. Then it just spiralled all away into shit. Oh, god, such shit. I hate nothing as much as I hate Energon.
