Anyone ever heard of this place before?

TheBigToyAuction - The #1 Live Auction Website for Modern Toys, Collectibles and Action Figures

I got an email about it this morning and this is the first I've heard of this site (website's up, but you can only prebid right now, I guess). It makes itself out to be an alternative to eBay, though I've only poked around the website a little. I noticed they have a bunch of Botcon toys up for Transformers, including Darksyde Megatron. I was just wondering if anyone knew any background on this site.

I got a similar email as well. Sounds like an upstart website.

I received it as well, but it's to an e-mail that I usually don't give out. Which Transformer toy site is behind this? (I think TFSource is the only site I've used this particular e-mail when ordering.)

Looking at the payment information, it seems that the fees are 15% of the end auction price. I don't really see the benefit over eBay with fees like that, unless you get in early before many take an opportunity to bid.

    Yeah that seems kinda high.

Ebid.net has fairly low fees. I wish more people would check it out.

I got the same thing... It was either BBTS or TFSource since those are the only two I deal with.

Yeah I got that email too (hotmail registered it as spam) & I have no idea how they got my email (Are BBTS, TFsource etc. selling our email addresses to a 3rd party?). Then again, I've bought TFs from a wide variety of online stores so... *shrugs* But fees of 15%? Tell them they're dreaming... *shakes head*

It's interesting that it's this widespread...the account I got that email at is the same I use for multiple websites (BBTS, TFSource, Robot Kingdom, Toy Arena...hell even ToyWiz, Treasure Island, and Xyber Toys). I'm curious who's running it...it would've been nice if whomever it is gave us an FYI ("this is so and so and we're just letting you know we're starting up/supporting this new auction site") instead of just emailing us blindly. I had a brief flash of "Uh oh, who are these people and how did they get my email?" when I first saw it in my inbox.

at the bottom of the page it does say brought to you by Christopher Noon. So anyone know who he is?

either way eBid.net is way better. 2% final value fee's and no insertion fees - how can you not like that?

and looks like they don't even run their own auctions, they run it on the proxybid, the interface looks like ass and pretty much counter intuitive to navigate, and what's this? no seller info feedback (not even fake ones) of any sorts? if they want to compete with ebay they need to atleast work on their ui.

Do people really expect a site to not charge fees? Seems anything less than 5%-10% would mean they would be loosing money. There are costs to maintain the site, systems, company offices, employee saleries, misc.

While that one site has 2%, I don't think they are turning a profit. Probably taking a loss hoping to get users. Then jack the fees up later.

I'm not sure this is the kind of "advertising" they want since everyone has been negatively discussing it.

Depends how many auctions with 2% fees are selling. Even if they jack up the fees in a couple years its pretty easy to stop selling at that point. I'll take 2% fees instead of what the other sites are charging.
