They were clearly aggressively disrespectful of humans.

And they'd go to the racetrack, obviously.

    :)

Assholes are just that. Assholes. They're probably just loud, pushy and honestly don't fit the stealth missions that well, wouldn't you agree?

The wreckers are portrayed in the novel, and to a lesser degree in the film, as being unruly and completely disrespectful to human law.

This was done mockingly to immitate the culture of fans for Nascar, whose stereo-type is that of white males, who drink beer, and disobey the law.

The same was done in ROTF with the twins, who were used to mock black males that portray themselves as being a part of the hip-hop, school drop -out culture.

    Nor wholly inaccurate.

Stereotypes develop for reasons. Personally, I think it would have been HILARIOUS to see him turn the racism-accusations on their head and to have gone whole-hog with the redneck-Wreckers angle, but I can understand the decision to downplay it and side-step the issue, too.

And given their origins in the U.K comics, the NEW accents make perfect sense, except that they totally clash with their overall design scheme and render the entire visual approach to the characters disappointingly moot and non-cohesive. WTF.

Plus, I just think it would have been great if he'd had the balls to stick to his guns on that one and show people what's what while COMPLETELY laying to rest the whole issue of the "racism" of the Twins, but ho-hum...hard to argue with over a billion bucks worth of success.

I think its clear they are arseholes because of their attitude towards Epps and the other NASA guys we see when first introduced to the Wreckers. They are extremely verbally abusive to one guy in particular, if you recall. Leadfoot even went as far as saying its time to kill that particular individual.

They're just disrespectful, loud and obnoxious. They work well together, but not really with anyone else.

I thought Mike Myers actually voiced Roadbuster, becaue when he says "The ship? We were never in the ship! We designed the damn thing, didn't we?" it almost sounds like a crossover voice of Shrek and Fat Bastard.

Yeah. And, to add to that, weaponized NASCAR cars aren't exactly "stealthy":D

Can you imagine how they'd act in a traffic jam during rush hour? Good God, the road rage would take years to mop up.
