...is thinking about how cool it would've been to see more footage of the 84 and 85 Autobot cast drawn the the movie's level, in motion, doing things other than dying or being dead!

Sure we see a few, those on the shuttle, a dead Wheeljack but nothing much beyond that (not including the Dinobots and I suppose Decepticons....). How about seeing the G1 character well drawn, well rendered and just being all round bad ass!

Wheeljacks death was never confirmed within the narrative of the series.

There was a Mosaic done of Mirage being shot in the back by Megatron, and then Tracks fled from the battle, and showed how Wheeljack died, but can't fully remember. It's all fan-made, but it was good enough for me!

    Exactly.

It's times like this that seem to benefit from Prime's newly acquired "kill them all" attitude, especially when taken in detail.

Yeah would have been nice to give closer to the old cast.

Until a year later when Headmasters just defies the movies logic.....based on the fact they won't see this movie another three years from now.

I've always been more of a fan of the season three characters. So it never bothered me that the season one and two Autobots were almost completely ignored in favor of the season three toys (Woops! I mean characters).

I don't think Blaze wanted this to be the usual fracas over who did or didn't die in the films... Lets keep the train on the tracks folks.. :p

I've always thought that explanation was insane. So the film wasn't released in Japan until 1989.. but video cassettes absolutely existed. So did planes and telephones. NOBODY thought to say "hey, let's get on the horn to Hasbro- who we have an extensive working relationship with- and see what happens in this big film, see if they'll send us a copy?"

Did Hasbro say "NO! NOBODY IN ASIA MUST KNOW THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF PRIME'S DEATH UNTIL THREE YEARS AFTER IT HAPPENS!"?

    Very strange.

My true attachments lie with the 1987-1989 cast, so I have no complaints with how the cast of '84 were treated. :p

Even beyond that, theres the season 3 episode "dark awakening", in which a few of the dead are mentioned in dialog.

Prowl and Ironhide are named as dead......and both appare in the Headmasters series.

Personally, I'd have loved to see the death of Wheeljack and the mortal damage to Bombshell.

I like the death of Red Alert in the animated storyboard of the deleted scene. Ironic that a paranoid character is killed by shooting him in the back.

Thundercracker and Skywarp and the Lambo Twins would have been interesting to see.

What I would of liked to see, Ultra Magnus fighting Devastator along side with Sideswipe, Tracks, Red Alert.

I always like to think they were in "stasis lock" and not dead. Since there was no doctor around they didn't know any better. Prime was also in stasis lock and the Quientesson was able to revive him. Non canon but that works for me.

So, are you saying that in Dark Awakening you consider them to be alive?

I'd say Ironhide is far the worst death in the 86 Movie, a blast from a fusion canon at close range, I woundered what Ironhide looked liked after he got blasted, when they retrieved his body and placed in the Mausoleum.
