Pitchfork: The White Stripes Officially Call It Quits This really blows, I was starting to get a bit excited when a year or so ago Jack White said that if he did come back to the White Stripes, it would be a whole new White Stripes. Needless to say this is a sucker-punch to me. Jack and Meg White formed one of my favorite bands of all time and knowing they might never perform together again leaves me with a hearty weight in my stomach. I love them, but I guess it's good to quit while you're still ahead. I've loved all of them albums, and they were a large part of my teenage years.
That's a bummer for fans. It's always really sad when a favorite band breaks up, and I didn't know they were on the verge of doing so. I've never been a fan of them, or got the hype surrounding them though. Mostly I just got annoyed at the amount of news pieces they were in that got put on the Pitchfork home page. I'm sure Jack White will do countless other projects with other well known artists; it's not like either of them will just disappear.
Well the last time they "broke up", they divorced and we got the White Stripes afterwards, so maybe this time they'll do something even better.
Seven Nation Army and The Hardest Button to Button were their greatest songs. I was always a fan of them. Such a shame that they ahd to call it quits.
