The very first video I ever posted on youtube, about 2 years ago. It's the final scene from TROOP.
I remember seeing this on youtube a while back. Im pretty sure I agreed with you back then too.
I definitely agree with the thought.
Sweet. That was a cool ending.
Why can't this be the way G1 ended? Just because they made Rebirth doesn't mean anybody has to consider it canon. Whenever I'm having a Transformers marathon, I go right from the end of G1 season three into Beast Wars.
Rebirth had a much better ending than that.
How is Galvatron and Zarek flying off better than ending the war?
Have to agree with you there, DecepticonSpike. There's a great overall feeling of satisfaction and finality when you see it. Kudos for sharing!
Second the notion as well. Like the ending from Return of Optimus Prime.
I liked rebrith. I thought it was cool and Love Scorp and Fort Max!
I hated Headmaster + other-Master concept till this day...
And yes, that's how the G1 supposed to be ended. Say no to Rebirth!
IMO, The Return Of Optimus Prime always felt like it WAS intended to be the end of the series... but then Rebirth got phoned in at the last minute so that they could sell a few more Head/Target/Powermaster toys and whatever else was in the line at that time. Even watching Rebirth, it's like an entirely different studio took over considering how different the animation & music was to everything that came before it... almost like they farmed out those 3 episodes to someone else.
The American show and comic way Headmasters was done was terrible, but I enjoyed the way they did it in Japan (at least until Soundwave died)
1)I liked Rodimus Prime better
2)The whole return of Optimus Prime episodes were lame (I have them on VHS so I've had a lot of time to relect on it)
3)It didn't end the war at all (listen to what is actually said)
4)I like the master concept (more so after learning about the much better Japanese versions)
I think we'll have to agree to disagree on 1-3, but I will agree about 4 when it comes to the Japanese shows.
There isn't much room for interpretation. Galvatron says "They'll be no war today", nothing about tommorow, or the next day. Or any time after today. That in no way says the war ended.
But it leave the impression that there may be peace between the Autobots and Decepticons, something that every other episode in the series made us feel ws impossible.
Plus, I think if you retcon it, this last scene could lead to the Pax Cypertronia, which leads the creation of Maximals and Predicons.
Taking a completely positive view of it. A ceasefire, maybe. Galvatron is totally random after all.
Sure, the ending may have been nice, but Galvatron was insane and since his days as Megatron, he always wanted the destruction of the Autobots and Optimus Prime.
To see them shaking hands made me call BS. Galvatron is unpredictable and he certainly wouldn't have stopped simply because they were forced to work together to stop a hate plague. The war was definitely not over--there really is nothing to interpret. This reminds me of one of the older G1 episodes when Prime and Megatron had to work together against the Insecticons--they both let shit slide that day only, just to stop the menace at hand. After that, where were they? Up each other's respective asses again.
I didn't care for the Rebirth much--cool concept, horrible animation, and an OK story (which could have lost the Daniel/Arcee headmaster crap). I watch G1, slide into Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory, then onto Beast Wars, etc.
The story flows much more smoothly that way. Although the return of the Golden Age of Cybertron in Rebirth was cool. In the end, the war was NOT over and it was only postponed due to hate plague. As we all know, Galvatron didn't want to die or become a "zombie" like the others, so he wanted the help of the Autobots. Once he was rescued and saved, he is grateful because he wanted to live. He mentions "there will be no war today" because there will be no war that day. Plain and simple. Just as Megatron and Prime had no more fighting or war after their ordeal, this is just the same sort of thing. The war would have continued, if you follow nearly any of Megatron's or Galvatron's previous actions.
You can say that it's all open to interpretation, but that's just how Megatron/Galvatron was..........thanks for helping me--I'll wait and try to kill you tomorrow since we're all tired today. Also, if you take into account that Transformers was originally supposed to continue into a full 4th season, you'd see that the war wasn't over (and I'm not talking about the Rebirth "4th season"). It was to continue beyond just 3 episodes, but the decision was made to axe it and go out on those 3 episodes.
