Rick's group have survived this whole season completely out of sheer dumb luck. So many times have people done stupid stuff and yet somehow it all worked out. Eugene never gave any kind of indication that he ever wanted to "switch teams" again and help out Rick et all. And now suddenly we're to believe he has a change of heart or that he always was going to sabotage? It's utterly ridiculous. What's worse is now they're leading us to believe that at some point Maggie is going to be the bad guy? Seriously? And the fact that so many of the saviors were hell bent on killing everyone at the hill top, and now they're working with them to help fix the savior's home with new windows and gardening tips?
No shit. I feel like the show has always had this problem, a bunch of corny dialogue that real people wouldn’t say, but it’s dramatically ramped up since Season 6. That was when the plot started really dragging until the season finales and premieres, and the majority of episodes became just that. I’ve looked at this season again and deduced that The King, the Widow, and Rick + Time for After are the most expendable episodes of the season. Largely because nothing happens besides Rick dealing with the garbage people, Eugene blabbering, and moping and deviating from the plan. I’d really like to just remove the garbage people from the show altogether, but damn, that scene where Simon puts them in their place is too satisfying. Also I can’t lie, I like the sound of “The King, the Widow, and Rick”. It’s catchy for some stupid reason.
I agree. In the early seasons, not only was the philosophical dialogue less frequent, it came in realistic circumstances. Now, it’s getting very tiring every time someone has a speech about how they’re not sure humanity can come back from this. The same goes for the editing and the episode pacing too. They keep trying to overdo things by showing things out of order and needlessly fancy editing. The show was a lot better when it was a simple, blunt, and bleak drama that had characters that bantered with each other when their wasn’t a life threatening situation happening.
Yeah, Gimple is a fucking monster with his out of order shit. So glad he’s gone. And I’m SO tired of the same old “we can’t come back from this” shit. Carl confirms that when a character preaches this, they’re going to die so they can motivate someone to be better or whatever. We had it with Dale, Tyreese, Hershel, Bob, and Carl. It’s sad that only two of those characters (Hershel and Carl) are ones I actually miss - not to say I hated Bob and Tyreese, granted. With that said, can Jesus die next? I’m so sick of his obnoxious preaching. He’s worse than Dale now.
I'm liking the first two episodes of Fear more than I liked the majority of season 8. The two new characters are intriguing, the new sepia tone color and contrast is great, and the new western feel to it is classic. I don't care much for the time jump, but it was necessary to get Morgan there so I can get over it. But the Premiere of Fear was its strongest episode yet! I hope they are able to maintain the momentum!
I haven't watched Fear since the first season. I enjoyed that first episode with Morgan and the gunslinger, but was a little lost with the second episode. There aren't many people left that I recognize.
I really want a scene where Maggie tells off Rick and Michonne for sparing Negan, and she shuts down the inevitable “killing him makes us no better than him” shit.
Spoiler We lost Carl for Jadis...??? Also Rick doesn't look that much different. Negan should've broke his leg.
Probably just so Andy doesn’t have to lean on a cane the rest of the show. They gave Scott a fake foot so he wouldn’t have to stay on crutches, lessened the burn for Austin, and let Rick keep his hand. Just convenience sake.
Haha, wow, the show officially now IS its title. Lincoln leaving *and* Cohen undoubtedly bailing because of her new show being picked up... this thing is definitely on its way out. At most they'll green light an abbreviated 10th season, then it's over. Shock News As Andrew Lincoln Departs THE WALKING DEAD; Will Only Appear In Six Episodes Of Season 9 THE WALKING DEAD: Don't Expect To See Much Of Lauren Cohan In Season 9
The report says he'll be out before the season 9 finale and Cohan is only getting 6 eps for this season. I bet ya they all kill each other just so they can call it Civil War.
Yeah this show is done if Andrew Lincoln is leaving. The guy has staunchly refused other roles to focus on his performance as Rick for almost a decade now, so that should tell you something.
It's probably all to do with the licensing. If they don't use comic stories or characters, they don't have to pay Kirkman as much. I'd say to expect new non-comic characters to be featured a bit more.
So it's official. The show gave up. Without the Grimes it's no longer the same story and Daryl is getting more haters than lovers with each season so that's also not a good way to make it keep going. Oh well, still got my comics. The only thing I'll miss is Carol.
Holy SHIT If they have Carol take over, or Maggie it Lauren stays on for real, then I’ll accept it but holy fucking shit it’s over
