Have to admit...the comic version was a bit unbelievable in how Negan suddenly Spoiler Sees it Rick's way . Kind of like they felt the need to pad that out. It would have made more sense to reach that outcome over time through many altercations and then culminate in this, though it should be shorter without that drawn out monologue. I think in this case, the show actually did that part better.
Ok, forgive me for asking, but was the Fear the Walking Dead ep right after....take place right after TWD season finale? I only saw the first 20min but I can't watch the rest till the end of the week. I don't care about being spoiled. Or is the beginning of FTWD right after, and the rest of the ep like a flashback?
Also Rick and Ezekiel were staying in Maggie’s house, why should she have to obey Rick's order to save Negan? Walk over there and kill the bastard. Fuck Rick’s predictable ass. The scene where the group sees the big herd in the distance, at the end, there’s a bunch of poles. Then later Rick mentions that the herd is the future. Felt like foreshadowing to me.
So I liked the season finale, especially mullet-man but I have a few buts... 1) Dwight, wtf he was seriously my main reason for watching 2) Jesus smiling at the end with Maggie? WTF completely out of character. Literally went against the character the entire episode, if not show 3) Why are so many people still alive?!?!? There are too many character arcs we had an opportunity to add some drama and thin the herd... nope. So much for “WAR!” 4) Tara’s still alive. 5) Tara’s still alive. 6) Tara’s still alive.
Jesus agreeing on Maggie's plan is way questionable. Like he is a voice of reason for "Not to Kill". Hell, he even persuading Morgan not to. And Daryl too. He let Dwight live and didn't resort in killing him. And they both agree on Maggie going against Rick & Michonne? WTH?
Yes it was really stupid. But you know Lauren’s manager was trying to squeeze AMC for more money. This is probably her Carl arc.
I truly didn’t read Jesus as agreeing with Maggie. He was saying yes to everything up until Maggie said they were gonna defy Rick. Even then, I don’t believe Maggie and Daryl plan to kill Rick and Michonne by any means. Even when Daryl fought Rick, the moment they were in danger, he still escaped with him. I still think the plan is to just kill Negan against Rick’s orders, but ostensibly the conflict of next season besides the Whisperers is a bloated Rick vs Maggie drama over Negan’s fate. It could be interesting if Jesus agrees that Negan is the ONE person he is okay with dying. Give him a shade of gray, because this season he’s mostly been an obnoxious “We can’t kill them or we’re just as bad” megaphone. I was groaning when during the fucking final battle of the war, he’s nagging Morgan to not kill Saviors. Just no.
I read somewhere that the reason they killed off Carl because Chandler Riggs wants to go in college. Back in school. So yeah, if makes sense if Maggie took up the Carl arc of the comics. Hence squeezing AMC for more money : At least AMC gave Chandler Rigg's Carl a swansong by leading Alexendrian to safety and trying to be a peacemaker between Negan and Rick.
The least they could've done is giving the barter system argument itself. Perhaps even improve on Negan's heel realization instead of just the "We need to end it now" crap. Also since Negan didn't break Rick's leg it makes the flashforward scenes even more awkward.
I think that was revealed to be false. It was a complete shock to Chandler about Carl being killed off.
Yeah people assumed that was the reason he was killed off. The real reason however makes less sense since they killed Carl so Rick would let Negan live.
Now I hope season 9 give answers about that hovering Helicopter and the lady who made trade with Maggie. btw, i'm not reading the comics
One could hope that those loose ends get revisited. Though I have a feeling they will just forget about them.
Not much of a spoil but... Spoiler in the comics, Alpha uses a row of heads on posts to mark her border with Rick's. Wait, misread the first quote. Thought it meant, "what's the point to the show?" Not, "whe n in the show did this happen?"
I finally caught up to everything and once again, Rick and the bafoons win again out of dumb luck. All because Eugene randomly decided to switch teams again. And now all of a sudden there's peace, just like that? And what is Negan going to be now in season 9, comic relief? Mocking Rick for every stupid decision he and his group make? And now Maggie is going to be the bad guy?? Sigh. Negan is alive because he became a fan fav and I'd even argue he's more popular than Rick now. I guess he's the devil's advocate maybe, pitting Maggie against Rick, instigating everything.
