I find it incredible that people were freaking out about this so muhc. Logic people.

The cost of modifying the mold to have that cap would have bene enormous. So of course it would be an after-manufacture thing. And with that being the case it wouldn't likely be difficult to remove. Or be designed for a fan to remove if they so chose. And look what we have here...

God people like to get worked up about things.

You're making the erroneous assumption that everyone who cancelled their order for Masterpiece Megatron was actually vocal about it before they did it.

And I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that no, people who switched do not, in fact, feel stupid about doing so... considering the fact that all it took was a few clicks, the entering in of a credit card number and maybe a difference of about $6 USD, at the most (for a sealed box, with an unmodified toy inside).

What part of the above process seems unintelligent to you, exactly?

Assuming that the toy had actually been modified to the strict legal standards, which most collectors of the toy were aware of (HLJ, along with a few other online retailers, posted a link to the actual customs law on their MP-05 product page), instead of what you see depicted in the pictures on the original post here, the toy would likely have been non-"fixable" - as intended by the law.

I don't see anything wrong with taking reasonable measures to prevent this (ie. changing your order to a different online retailer).

You mean kind of like how you just did?

They could have TOLD US THAT IS WAS THAT SMALL..

It's almost so small you really don't need it..

And here I was thinking it was this huge, fat, orange cap, like Classics Megatron which was super-glued in place..
    *whew* I'm releaved. :3
Now to order one from HLJ..

really its pretty nice that so many retailers offered a solution to the customs laws at little to no extra cost. a g1 style megatron is always a bit of a gamble and there is nothing wrong with covering your butt. some of us like to gamble though and will be getting them in unmodified and unopened.

i think the only stupid thing is being a transformer fan and not buying one of these bad boys. btw i should be getting a second shipment this month:)  not that im shamelessly advertising

I am OUTRAGED. I don't understand why people across the pond have it so good, you guys get A FREE EARPLUG.

Here in the UK we get nothing but air.

I actually ordered 2, now I'm tempted to send them back. I really wanted those 2 earplugs so I could stop hearing internet whine.

Bah. Takara/Tomy sux balls. Double bah.

Well I'm only 3 dollars and a few days behind. Mine was only 3 dollars more at robot kingdom, but I had to go airmail instead of EMS. Oh well, reports are coming in of people receiving their MP-05 from Robot Kingdom un-moded just fine so I'm not worried.

OH? And what if they had chosen to glue the cap in place as per the U.S. customs requirement?

The major fuss was that people didn't want the middleman (HLJ, BBTS, etc...) opening their sealed boxes, and hand applying a modification. This is still a valid concern.

Of course you find it incredible... You have the benefit of hindsight!

so erm...where were u when people started voicing their concern??? perhaps thinking the SAME ******* thing as us? They could've super-glued the thing for all you know and the fact that people were concerned was because middle-hand opening the box and tampering with the toy thus not keeping it MISB like all NEW toys are sold as...if you didn't know that, well I've now told you. Would you like it if someone drove your new car out when you assumed it to be bought new? Would you want someone to be the first to touch your new MP05 instead of you?
Logic...pfft, like you thought it'll be like this at the time

Good thing I kept mine as well. Hopefully I'll be in that first shipment run because I pre-ordered within the same day that BBTS started putting up pre-orders.

I think the idea of Takara-TOMY catering to the US market with a signifigant size altered production run alongside the normal stock was pretty much called as bunk right off.

    Exactly.

Now, tell me this, folks--how is a cop supposed to see this from a reasonable distance? Wouldn't a cop still most likely mistake MP Megatron as a real gun even with that tiny plug?

Much ado about nothing, I say.

Still, glad it's small and removable if indeed my Megatron is plugged (ordered mine from Captured Prey and they still say MP Megs is gonna be unmodded).
