Maybe this has been brought up before, but wasnt this movie a re-telling of a 3 part cartoon episode from the first season? Megatron uses the space bridge to bring Cybertron to Earth and and humans were acting as slaves?

Yes it is. There's also that 2 or 3 parter where the autobots are banished from earth and it is thought they are all killed. I really liked that they chose to borrow from these episodes. Also, when Sentinel Prime kills Ironhide it makes me think of the Cosmic Rust episode; if you're a G1 fan, how can you not think of Cosmic Rust right there. I loved it, awesome stuff and definitely better than ROTF in my opinion.

Just took a gander at your profile sir and I gotta say, you're missing out on stuff. You're a youngster still so it's acceptable, but you should branch out man. At least check out Beast Wars, I wasn't really a HUGE fan of Beast Wars before, but I just watched all of it after the box set release and it's a great series man. If you have access to an all region DVD player (not sure what the regional coding is in Guat.) you should check the series out. Check out G1 aswell man, it's the progenitor to everything great that is Transformers.

Not to be off topic, but you have better chances of being eaten by Megatron than getting GC to watch an episode of G1, or any other show. I have a feeling he'd rather gouge his eyes out with an ice pick.

I do like that Mister Bay borrowed from G1, but I wish he could come up with a good story that we haven't already heard.

Yeah, TF3 is pretty much a thinly rehashed version of The Ultimate Doom and Megatron's Master Plan, with lots of :bay  added for good measure. That hit me as soon as I read the novel. Nice nod there to the hardcore fans.

Yeah, it's even called the Cosmic Rust Cannon for the movie. (notes on the concept art of it)

Thinly...thats one way to describe the story ;)

Sentinel should have ordered the humans of the planet, the Decepticons may have had a chance against 9 Autobots

Yup, DOTM is more or less a combo of "The Ultimate Doom" and "Megatron's Master Plan" just with some new twists & tweaks.

    I would say it's a mix of

    The Ultamate Doom (Parts 1-3)
    Atlantis Arrise
    Megatron's Master Plan (Parts 1+2)

I agree with Ultimat Doom & Megatron's Master Plan...but where does Atlantis Arise fit into the mix?

So much for Movieverse to being G1.

And believe it or not, ROTF plot was also similar to The "Changing Gears" Episode.

Probably because it was based in DC, and it's where Megatron sits in Lincoln's chair like he did in DOTM. I think that was absolutely a little nod to G1, but the overall movie is definitely used "The Ultimate Doom" & "Megatron's Master Plan" as its core inspiration more than anything.

ok, glad to see more people felt that way. Thanks for the comments. All we needed was a Shawn Berger. And some character development...

I just couldnt stomach McDreamy bossing around Soundwave.
