I am using Combiner Wars because I prefer the scale and the combiner gimmick.

I went with BadCube - I think it is the best looking TB of the bunch. I love the stocky build, terrific paint, and he scales really well with Ironhide/Ratchet.

And the legs are a MESS. And the hands are a joke.

This is another Autobot that I'm very much looking forward to the Takara version.

Personally I see pros and cons on all of them and am content to wait and see what FT comes up with before making a call.

I really like the tapered chest and the look overall of mmc's. It's a shame to hear the QC is questionable since I liked him enough that I was considering getting him. I think Fanstoys is doing one, aren't they? Sadly, it doesn't seem that anybody else is doing the collapsing chest.

XTB had a nice mould and finish but it was too big for my collection.
BC had a nice finish but the mould is fiddley and doesn't clean up that well in robot mode.
FT looks promising but those visible hood hinges made me not want to wait for it.
MMC has the best mould, the hood transformation is amazing and no visible hinges too but it needed a couple refinements... I had to spray the thighs and forearms silver to give it that MP finish. Also quick flat black brush over the lower face makes it stand out better.

Ive got all three so far (without even setting out to do so or being that big a TB Fanboi) and there are pros and cons with all of them.

MMC Terry gets a lot of shit about its QC but in all honesty mine is fine, it's a pretty good version of the character but I actually prefer it as Hoist - the smaller stature seems to suit Him better.

The Bad Cube one is definitely the best made and is also great, it just has some less than attractive things going on with the legs and that fucking transformation - trying to line the bottom of the car up in Alt is the usual BC pain-fest and not something I recommend.

The XTB Aegis is OK by their standards, but objectively the poorest of the three in terms of quality. It seems to get widely praised for NOT being a complete Keef-Fuckup like Ollie, but that's not a high bar to get over. It's also HUGE and has those damn Trump-hands which don't help the looks at all. And I hate the damn shoulders, only pegging to the backpack at two tiny points means it Unclips all the damn time whatever you do with the shoulders. But it was the cheapest so......you pays your money and takes your choice.

The finish on the paint apps is absolutely awful - Trailbreaker has hardly any accents at all so if you can manage to fuck those up you really weren't trying very hard where you.

On balance I'd go for a used MMC or Badcube where you know the QC is already fine.

I've messed with all three and I personally think BC is the best. The XTB is close, but the shoulder articulation is infuriating (and with that a huge blow to the fun factor). While I personally got a good MMC one, everyone else I talk to regularly had a pretty gnarly string of dealbreaker QC issues, so I can't recommend that.

Paid for FT pre-order, getting refund if rumors of Takara are true and they announce before FT releases in 2025

Don't go anywhere near that turd from MMC. You'll regret it, it's Omnigonix Spinout levels of fail.

MMC Terraegis. I only wish there was a third head option with the toy red optics and the toon/comic face.

Not really interested in G1 TB, but if someone can make a good MTMTE TB complete with forcefield face, then we'll talk.
(yes, I know about the Beelzeboss add on kit for generations TB)

I have to come in and stick up for MMC Terraegis a bit. I'm not going to deny people's QC issues - mine was just fine and I'll leave it at that. I have the mold as Hoist and Rally as well, and of the 3 only Rally gave me any issues and they were trivial.

But in terms of aesthetics I personally feel the MMC is hands down the winner over both BC and XTB. The sculpt is very heroic, is a very good representation of the character, and avoids the unsightly mess of BC's version (legs especially) and the overly blocky, stiff look of XTB's. He poses quite well and has a number of accessory options. The only thing he lacks is he could have used a nice glossy finish or something. In some light the unpainted black plastic can look a bit dull. I'm ready to admit I'm in a distinct minority on this guy's virtues, but hey I gotta represent! :D

There isn't one yet. But with Takara's soft "confirmation" that they'll be doing Trailbreaker & Hoist, that's what I'll be waiting for.
