    7.Fort Max (simply coz he's the biggest TF ever made)
    6.Prowl coz he has been made more than OP
    5.Bumblebee from g1 and movies
    4.Optimus Prime from g1
    3.Jetfire mostly from g1 but also other lines
    2.Devastator he is known just by his name

    But, no, 'cause, he's not. 20 and 30 somethings who grew up on the cartoon and haven't gone back to TF since remember Octamis Pryme, and the guy with the tapes and the voice. People who don't *remember* Transformers remember Soundwave.

    Strange, before I became a fan again (after being a Beast Wars fan, and going on a hiatus) the only characters I knew of G1 were Optimus, Starscream and Megatron. Not Soundwave. Then again, that may be the Beast Wars influence in me.

    Actually I would disagree. As someone who largely missed out on G1 (my real experiences began with Beast Wars and Car Robots) when it was screened I knew Optimus Prime and Megatron but really only learned about Soundwave later. Soundwave might be iconic if you've seen the G1 cartoon or comics, but if not he's not nearly as well known. Shockwave was to me more recognisable because of his unusual appearance.
