Do you guys think that Throttlebots are useful ?
Sure...I just always thought they should have been all upgraded first season minibots...resurrectted or rebuilt...colors would've needed to be different for some...or some explaination...Bee to Goldbug already happened...Huffer to Wideload works for me...Brawn to Rollbar...I'm thinking CJ & Windcharger to Chase & Freeway respectively...leaving Gears to Searchlight...maybe some deco tweaks where necessary...and...a good origin...
I always felt the same thing but not with the whole team just half
Bumblebee to Goldbug
Chase should have been Cliffjumper
Rollbar Should have been a Brawn just out of a 5 year coma or recent found in the wreck of the shuttle
Wideload should have been Huffers younger brother found by Brawn on a forgotten colony planet
Searchlight and Freeway friends of Wideload and all 3 are New recruits
What always "bugged" me was that the 80s comics never seemed to really make Goldbug a real Throttlebot. He just coincidentally looks just like them and meets them later. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I can't remember whether Goldbug in the cartoon was built as a Throttlebot or not.
This is pretty much one of the cases where while the details are different the basics end results between the comic and the cartoon were kind of the same
In the u.s. comics, Bumblebee was rebuilt by GI Joe into Goldbug, in the u.k. comics a ti knob e traveling Wreck-Gar rebuilt him
In the cartoon the same Quintason that brought Optimus back to life was the one that rebuilt Bumblebee into Goldbug
Sure. You can stand on their roof and ride into battle like that.
The Throttlebots are unsung awesome! Searchlight is Batman, for crying out loud. The fact that they haven't appeared in the IDW continuity since Spotlight Metroplex is extremely disappointing.
Everyone needs cannon fodder in a war.
I'd love if a third party company made them some arm upgrades. I'd settle for new versions of their original arms with ball joints.
I loved the headsculpts especially Rollbar. His just oozed personality.
They were a great team in the Marvel comics when Ratbat sent them to Earth.
Also, Wreck gar was from the future, so he knew they would be coming - so that's why he rebuilt Bumblebee to the same design as he knew they'd soon meet up. Simple.
But they're great team in the show ?
G1 show? They didnt do much of anything except been bashed into the second battle of Autobot city.
Plus Goldbug repeated the cycle of 'please save me' by Optimus so....
Sure, they can be useful tools in the galactic conquest of the evil Rodimus Prime and his villainous Autobots...
But seriously, they're just more characters. Not everyone on Cybertron can be Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron and Starscream...nor should they be.
I only had Searchlight as a kid so i have the nostalgia connection to him.
As characters, besides Goldbug, there was nothing special about them. Just more characters to the franchise.
This cracked me up so much!
But I always did have a soft spot for the Throttlebots. I love their concept. They don't need to be massive overpowered forces to be heroes. I just wish they got the chance to show that.
I much preferred Rollbar as the tough old guy over Kup.
Still have all 6 G1 Throttlebots 30 years on.
Always wanted a Throttlebot-styled helicopter...
Well, they were useful for Hasbro as they took on the role of 'cheap pocket-money' toys that was vacated by the minibots.
In-fiction? Well, they were Autobot troops, so of course they were useful. In the cartoon they could "CHARGE!" into battle, and in the comics they could, er, get trounced by the Scraplets and Underbase-Starscream, get cubed by RAAT, get shown-up by three humans driving a tank, and end up living inside toy cars. Okay then, not-so-useful in the comics.
Nope, this is spot-on. Goldbug and Blaster meet up with the Technobots and hang around with them, but Goldbug never officially joins their ranks.
Second battle of autobot city?
When Famsa speaking of that they usually mean when Galvatrons first attacked the city in the movie
I'm assuming that's not what you mean because these characters were not in the movie right?
I meant the battle Galvatron initiated to steal the key to the plasma energy chamber in the first episode of the rebirth.
Separate names with a comma.
