It looked really boring when all the Transformers on Cybertron is in Protoform mode it would be cooler if Bay make them more colorful like the comic

I really don't think that it mattered in that scene. The focus was the Ark. Also, it seemed to me that the warriors for the armies are mostly in protoform mode while the leaders are the ones with color.

well the ark is fleeing in this scene , so it is escaping from where the main fight is with the 'coloured' bots and cons
the futher it travles, the less intense the war is , so these are prob protoforms like in the movies or less important ones, they prob dont have ranks or any particular strength so they wouldnt have any armour, they are 'disposable', they jst fight cos it is a war

    jst my theory
    hope it makes sense

Just focus on the giant robo-kitty and all will be fine.

I'd have liked to seen more color too. Everything's so gray; the bots, the ships, the weapons, the structures, everything.

This is the style of the Movieverse, on Earth the robots are only coloured because of what they trans-scan and form in to. On Cybertron there ain't no colours 'cus there don't need to be.

And besides, how much would it cost to render all that's stuff in colour anyway?

They probably didn't want to spend more money on a shot that didn't last all that long.

I don't know how that's supposed to be remotely comparable.

Some colourful neon lighting like WFC might've helped. On the planet and on the TFs themselves.

And speaking of protoforms: would we like any suggestion that Cybertron is just a giant sleeping Primus protoform?

Cybertronians weren't about color, they were about tribal tattoos.

I guess that's a price to pay when you make scenes that big, you have to reuse models. And since the only non-Earth-based robots in the movies are Protoforms (who are all the bare-bones body of a TF) and Megatron (who's primary colour is silver) scenes involving multiple alien TFs are kinda doomed to be dull as far as colour goes.

BTW, that pic really shows the design of Cybertron in DOTM is so crazy cool.

How is that even close to the same thing? They're all main characters.
