I know I don't post here often. But bear with me.

    In 2001, I created this:

    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/T7cRDZJ0naQ"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/T7cRDZJ0naQ" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Now, five years later, I'm pulling a Lucas. I was never 100% happy with Theft. We know more about the canonical background now. We have (or will shortly), canonical altmodes for the major characters involved. I'm a better modeller, I'm a better animator. And its the 10th Anniversary of BW. So its time to move forward.

Part of moving forward is realizing you can't always take things on your own. I'm out to get some assistance in the modelling and animation areas, particularly if other modellers have certain secondary character and cameo character molds modelled already. Its an ambitious project and if anyone is available to help, either actively (with new work) or passively (by allowing me to utilize some of their older work to some degree) it would help greatly. If you're interested, let me know and we'll see if you're a good fit for the project.

Some of my new work for this project has already come to light, such as this:

Waspinator will be re-modelled to match his new canonical form. Scale will be based on the original show size comparisons. The old Waspy model may yet see use as a background character, so don't fret, those who love the Cyclonus/Waspinator.

:D  Very interesting. I'd often wondered how the 'Golden Discs Heist' would have gone down. I like your version.

I am sold on Scorponok and Tarantulas...

With Cybertron Buzzsaw, that is probably a good waspinator, but you might want to use the BOTCON waspinator mold if you want consistancy.

Any plan for terrorsaur and Megs?

If you don't get a full movie, I would love to see a comic out of your models. Good luck!

it looks amazing man, but your lighting/texturing could really use some help. What program are you using? and what type of rigs for animating? I may be interested in helping

Using 3d Studio Max, and bringing on a texture artist is on the "to do" list. Characters are primarily rigged using basic link-and-rotor setups, with Biped rigs for walking sequences.

I'm primarily a modeller, as you might guess.

This all looks pretty decent at the moment. One thing you might want to do is turn up the anti-aliasing quality and also chamfer/bevel some edges around parts that have a smoothing angle greater than 90 degrees so you don't have that sharp look.

Also, are you planning on making any of the Maximals in their Cybertronian forms?

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into making some of those adjustments.

As for the Maximals, it all depends. There's really not much for them to DO in this story. None of them were witnesses to the theft. Their only involvement comes after the Predacon ship has departed Cybertron on its way to conquest.

Have you seen any of the comics in the MTMTE series? They have a scene of Dinobot and Megs stealing the golden disc...

yo, shoot me a line over AIM at SSJ4CT if you could, I'd like to chat about some things.

Oh, and what do you mean, new cannonical forms? Did IDW do more "flashback" sequences or something?

maybe you could add on and do a little scene where the maximals are in their ship, they get a call from cybertron as the predacon ship zooms past or something

    thatd be neat xD

anyways, look forward to seeing this come to fruition

Well, IDW did show some Preds pre-BW, and one Maximal, but nothing related to the show characters.

The forms I speak of are the Botcon Exclusive pre-BW figures. As approved Hasbro merch, they're official, and thus are as canonical as we can get, really.

Nice work, d00d. I think the crits I would have given have been addressed before I saw this; chamfers, texturing & lighting are the main ones. Keep it up!

Thanks Draven, I appreciate it. As for texturing, we're contemplating attempting a total Beast Machines style imitation once we have a texture-guy. I'll try and round some corners here and there, but I'm trying to strike a good balance of looks and polycount, given the demanding nature of the animation.

Lighting is going to be part of the set design. The lighting on these demo renders isn't what we have planned for the final setup.

Don't suppose you have an Energon Megatron model lying around someplace?
