Favourite covers? I love Dinosaur Jr's version of Just like Heaven.

Yeah, I'm hoping something comes up and I'm like wait, who? I could use a good music rabbit hole.

I've always liked this version of Watching the detectives. A west indie influence is a lot more prevalent. I hope i'm using that correctly. :)

Also, I was never big on Rancid but I do like the song Evil's my friend.

I need to catch up on Dinosaur Jr. I like all the newer stuff they put out but I've only had Over it in rotation.

My favorite Yeah Yeah Yeahs track is Art Star. Late 90s screamo cracks me up every time. I didn't want to bring it up because I kill the thread often enough as it is :)
I still bust out Saetia, ORCHID, OFF MINOR, Blood Brothers, and Walls of Jericho pretty often...there, I said it.

Back to how Yeah Yeah Yeahs usually sound. I liked that era, bands like the Strokes made records that where not very complicated but they really sounded like that live. Alabama Shakes?

Ahhhh shit man, we all like that stuff :lol
Funny story, I went to see the Bronx who were supporting Lost Prophets. Went with a friend to meet a bunch of female friends who were hanging around outside the venue early to try meet some of the band mates and half of Lost Prophets where outside, the singer (who turned out to be a child molester) wrote his name on a piece of paper and tried to give it to me, to which i said "nah you're alright mate", didn't know it was him at the time.

Another time I got onto Coheed and Cambria's tour bus and saw a girl I know sitting on the singer lap, first thing I said was "Wow aren't you married?", swiftly escorted off the bus right after.

This has nothing to do with anythihg but I've had a drink and thought they were funny

So, playlists have treated me to a few Nirvana songs: Heart Shaped Box, Lithium, Come as You Are and Smells Like Teen Spirit. Not sure how good of an example these are, but I'm starting to regret ignoring this band.

Anyone who ignores Nirvana disqualifies themselves as a serious music critic.

Check out Rape Me if you want a socially conscious song.

Wouldn't consider myself a serious music critic any day of the week. I heard of Nirvana, but never felt the need to listen to them when I had tracks I was already enjoying.

Now that I heard them, I have become interested.

I was kind of in the same boat as Edwardimus, until i finally buckled down and listened to Come As You Are. I was blown away.

I like Smells like Teen Spirit, but I think it's kind of overrated.

No one thought Nevermind was perfect. There are unavoidable flaws like the gibberish lyrics being hard to sing along with.

I think they stood out because you could hear the songs on the radio and tell they went together.

The Pixies had a ton of songs on the radio but they had two singers and took different approaches to each song. While someone from the general public might have liked Gigantic and Alec Eiffel it might not have registered that it was the same band.

I hazard to guess how Nirvana videos stand up now. Maybe you can drink every time Kurt flashes a sad steel.

They're so ham fisted with social consciousness, and I feel Nirvana is a gloss over type of band.

Jackson C. Frank is very very sad, and if you read up on his life story it's even sadder

By the way, is anyone here a Cheech and Chong fan? I recently started getting into more of their best bits (having already heard Dave's Not Here, Let's Make a Dope Deal, and Sister Mary Elephant), and they're all funny, even when you're not high.
