Declawing is actually pretty awful. I think most people didn't say anything since it was already done. I know I try to talk people out of doing it wherever possible. You shouldn't put an animal through a traumatic procedure to make it more convenient for you. If you're taking the responsibility to care for an animal, you also have the responsibility to provide it with a suitable environment. If you don't want them scratching your furniture, provide places to scratch and encourage them to go there. I'd assume you were poorly informed when you decided to do that, so I'm not going to lay into you or anything. I'm definitely not going to leave the forum because of it. However, I hope you decide against declawing if you get another cat.

I'm very sorry if you're a circumcision nut. That's a whole other topic you'll need to deal with in your real life, along with chemtrails and fluoride. However, you're comparing a tiny bit of tissue that does not affect most people with removing functional parts of your cat's body. You have to realize how these things are not equivalent.

    Edited for removing excess vitriol...

Fun fact, a cat owner can always cut their pet's claws. If you'll be doing it on a regular basis then you don't have problems with the animal destroying things when it needs to shed its old claws occasionally.

Another issue is that by declawing your cat you took away her means of defending herself if she gets out.

Ha, she's an indoor cat. She's just not liking the warm weather we're having. I hate it too, haha.

Just gave my oldest, Bruiser, a bath. He did not appreciate it, and is one grumpy 11-year old in this shot.

He's overweight and has issues cleaning himself, so we bathe him and my girlfriend uses a special comb to cut out small mattes and groom. He loves the attention and tolerates the bath to get it.

    Hehehe
Yeah, tell me about it. That cat is NOT afraid to let you know when he is displeased.
Still, he's a big lump for the most part. He is also definitely my daughter's cat. He waits outside her bedroom door, even when she isn't here. Then when she is, he is always within sight of her, if not on her lap.

Say hello to my family’s big cat, Spock. Yes, like the pointy-eared Star Trek character. (Our dog, Smudge, cameos in a picture too.)

My wife's family's cat just passed away last night. She was 18, so I'm guessing it was old age- we're not sure.

Her name was Chessie, and the limited times I had with her (because I've only known her for 5 years, and only saw her every once in a while)- she was a fine cat, very pleasant, very well behaved, a model feline.

(Salutes) She will be missed, and my wife's heart is in pieces over her. :(

BUT, on the bright side, our own cat- Molly- is fulfilling her feline duties better than ever before, and I hope Molly's able to mend my wife's crushed heart, and help her get through this tough loss.

(Pours a shot and lifts it) To Chessie.

Now I regret not having any pictures...My family's youngest cat, not even 10, died last night at the vet. He had kidney problems--we knew something was wrong on Sunday. The worst part is, if we acted faster, he'd have been here at home, recovering. If I had any pictures of him, I'd post them, but we never really took any. I'm pretty sure one of our older cats is depressed now. He loved the little guy so much.
