I always wondered ever since I watched TLK, the first movie Megatron went after the Allspark, in the second movie, Megatron and The Fallen went after the Matrix and in DOTM, Megatron and Sentinel Prime, wanted to activate the Pillars to bring Cybertron in Earth's atmosphere in order to use some of it's energy to revive Cybertron. Instead why didn't Megatron or the Fallen went after the Talisman from the start?

Because it hadn't been forcibly written into the continuity yet.

But in all seriousness, I doubt any of them knew about its existence at the time.

Because Unicron wasn't showing his horns yet. It wasn't time yet. Not to mention, Megs didn't know anything about it, until Quintessa slapped him red faced (which took place just prior to TLK).

It is said that the Fallen and the 7 Primes were on Earth in 17,000 BC and Dragonstorm was on Earth in 484 AD. So therefore the Fallen was on Earth way before Dragonstorm, so I am sure he knew about the Talisman's existence.

Come to think of it, what’s the point of the talisman anyway? All it did was turn into a sword.

Megatron said it would lead them to the staff, but Cade and Viviane didn’t use it to find the staff. It was information from Viviane’s father that led them there.

I mean, it’s been quite a while since I’ve watched the movie so maybe I’m wrong idk

No, you're completely right. The Talisman did nothing in the movie.

TLK was such a hot mess it couldn't even make its macguffins relevant.

Well, the glasses of TF2007 didn't do anything either. They found the Allspark without them.

Anyway, it seems all the Talisman was for, was to protect Cade.

While I do have my issues with TLK, the Talisman did do more than that. It also protected Cade from the TRF drones' fire in the abandoned Dakota town, and the presence of the Talisman did help activate the underwater ship and let them in. Cogman says, "Your Talisman is the key to unlocking this ship."

Yeah, but in the end the role of "The Last Knight" went nowhere. Like, Viviane's role had relevence. Cades did not. Vivian could have easily been the one to carry the Talisman, making it less complicated. Seriously, Cade didnt actually do anything relevent to the film that could not have been done by Viviane.

The talisman also protected Cade's privates, from Viviane.

The crashed knight, told Cade: "To protect, from Quin...(tessa)."

All the Talisman serves is to cement Cade's place as a Knight, and to establish yet another link between Earth and Transformers.

True. The talisman didn't have any special powers relevant to save Cybertron, its purpose was to 1) Indicate Cade is the Last Knight, and 2) Protect him while he was fulfilling his quest. Their wouldn't really be a reason why Megatron or the Fallen would want it.

So, no purpose, then? Because there's about a million links between the worlds, and Cade is not a Knight in any capacity.

Ah, but the glasses at least connected Sam to the Transformers, and gave both sides something to chase after for the first two thirds of the movie. It served a narrative role, however minor.

None of the events of the movie actually came about from the Talisman except for the 'Cons attacking Yaeger, which they could've just done anyway. TRF was already looking for him, and Cogman knew where to find him without it.

Well, like I said; The Talisman protected Cade. And to add; It also protected Optimus in the scene there it became a sword, thanks to Cade.

And as Galvatross said; The Talisman was the key to unlock the ship which held the staff.

I believe Cade is a Knight in spirit, but I agree with the rest.

Don’t forget the talisman, which didn’t had much use, had four symbols of events from the 4 past movies.

So you say tlk wrapped up the other movies... in the most inefficient and contradicting way possible. What I trying to get is why couldn’t they look at past macguffins for clues as I stated in another thread.

And yet the ship was used to drain unicron/earth to restore Cybertron.. so Cade and Vivian got tricked to unlocking it and kill their home planet so had they known that, they wouldn’t have unlocked it and there would’ve been no story... unless they wanna go with kidnapping Vivian and force her to do their dirty work like that hasn’t been done before....*cough*DOTM*cough*

If the writers and production paid attention to continuity, they would have referred to the allspark hieroglyphics or maybe government recordings of it, to dig into transformers history. You see how efficient TF5 could have been with that over the witwickian clusterfuck-fest?
