Took a few in progress pictures to show the wonders of sticky putty for masking off areas too small for painters' tape. Works for heads and faces, too. Do I get a prize?
I have an oddly colored mass of Super Sculpey that gets used like that all the time. I like it almost more than tape.
Once again Clay, You present a handy idea that some of us would not have thought about. I will have to keep this in mind. Thanks
What I use is actually a sticky putty. It's meant for holding paper notes to walls without needing thumbtacks. You can find it in office supply stores, or the aisle with paper/pencils in walmart, target, etc. It's cheap, reusable, and lasts forever. I've been working out of the same $3 pack for two years, and have only used about 10%.
Has anyone ever tried using Liquid Frisket/Masking Liquid? http://www.misterart.com/store/view.cfm?group_id=636&store=001 http://www.plazaart.com/products.php?page=4625&a=3&dept=5&manufacturer=5803 I believe it's basically liquid latex and ammonia. It's main use is for watercolor painting but I've read people using it on minatures. You basically paint it on and when it dries, you just use an eraser to loosen it and peel it off. I've been thinking about trying it but haven't had the time.
