Fashion and grooming trends are like a pendulum; something is stylish, then it isn't, then it is again. The moustache will have its day again soon enough ... just look at the history of it in the US from say the late 1700s or so. None of the Founding Fathers had one; they were all clean shaven. Moustaches don't popping up regularly until the mid 1800s, and stuck around until World War I. They then disappeared from the interbellum period until about the mid 1960s. From the mid 60s to the early 80s moustaches were cool again, then were lame from the mid 80s until just a couple of years ago. It's becoming trendy again to be hairy (within reason), just look at how many of those Williamsburg-style hipsters are rocking the moustache or full beard, and even male runway models are sporting (neatly-kept) chest hair. The mainstream will soon get wise to the cutting edge, and before long, the moustache will once again be on the minds and the lips of men across America.
Wow. Guess I'm on the wrong side of fashion. Never knew wearing a 'Stache was out of style. Granted I rock a thin one, and not a bushy porn 'stache, but it hasn't affected me at all. I look 12 years old without it... so I keep it. I guess it depends on where you live. Could be a black thing tho lol... when I think about it only a few of my white friends have em, while nearly all my black and latino friends wear one.
I think people are somehow conditioned to assume that something is cool when they see a black dude doing it. Not that I actually think it's uncool, I mean, unfashionable and uncool to me are different things. You could probably start wearing sequin encrusted assless chaps over your pants and people would look at you and say, "damn, that dude's cool."
You too? Man, I'm almost hairy as a gorilla. Funny thing is my ex told me after we had our first "tussle" that she'd kill me if I ever depilated myself. That really caught me off guard, her answer to my question "Why?" was that my body hair is soft and she liked the feel of it on her skin. Not that I was complaining about it in the first place.
It's your hair, your face. Grow it as you please. I have a goatee right now....just shaved the 'stache down to almost gone....I change it up from time to time as I please.
I know we all wish we could live up to this fine gentleman's standard, and I applaud those of us who try, but sometimes it's fine to simply accept one's modesty and go for a more feminine style of facial decoration. Such as this creature:
Shaved head and goatee here. Had the goat for about fifteen years now. The few times I've shaved it off my head looks massive and wrong. My head hair tends to puff out at the sides like a matador hat so that shit stays really short or Bicced right off. On occasion I've shaved parts of my goat off to make comedy handlebars or just the chin hair and no 'stache but the full goat is my bag. Used to have the thing really long too and look wild in the boozer. Sometimes I'll leave it all and grow a full beard any professor would be proud of. My woman prefers just the goat though so I stick to that rather than full wolf man. Hairy back too. Had to give a guy a smack the other day because he kept referring to my goat as my face vagina. Now he refers to his fat lip as a lesson learned.
Jesus, you're right. Well, at least my avatar is SUPPOSED to have a penis - she/it/that has one by accident.
