Back on topic.. I am most happy about this: It 101% coincides with my beliefs; that Lois was with Superman and Richard at the same time.
I liked Superman Returns. Watched it for the first time tonight actually. I liked it better than Batman I think if only because of the Lois/Clark relationship and the fact that I found Routh's Clark to be both funny and endearing.
Ya know, I did wonder about that. How can Richard think he's the father if he and Lois weren't in a relationship at the time? Or maybe he knows its not his kid, but for a stable family unit is a father to Jason? Who knows, but I'd like a definitive answer to it. Either way Kal-El needs to give his kid a Kryptonian name. I can't remember who made the joke first but I vote for Infid-El.
I will give the movie the benefit of the doubt in the fact that if this was made right after Superman 2, and stared the original cast, I wouldn't be as critical. It's hard to live up to what you grew up with, and I think people in general just expect more today. Where exactly is Metropolis supposed to be? In Smallville they must have taken some liberties because Chloe still lives in Smallville, yet works at the Daily Planet. Obviously in the movie it is not in Kansas. In the DC world does NY City not exist? and Metropolis and Gotham in the same area?
In thd DC world Metropolis represents the lighter side of New York, and Gotham New Yorks seedier underbelly. In terms of Geography Metropolis and Gotham are both East Coast cities. Smallville doesn't know WTF its doing anymore. (IMO)
Smallville has always had Metropolis as a Kansas city, but they've never been consistent on how far away it is. In the early seasons, they made mention of it being a 6 hour round trip from Smallville ... later on they said you could see the skyline of the city from a water tower ... and other characters have made the trip quicker than 6 hours.
Even I agree with that. Hulk sucked. I didn't want to admit it when I saw it in the theaters, but when I watched it DVD, I couldn't sit thru it. I can't even stand to see it on cable. The only reason I haven't gotten rid of my copy is the fact that it is the Hulk. Goes with the rest of my Hulk collection.
Kyle Rayner/Green Lantern was based mostly in NY, but aside from that, almost all DC heroes are based out of ficitional cities, and as far as I know, they never tell you what states they're located in.
