Anyone else looking forward to this? The style is just like Sin City, only PG-13. I think it looks really good.

I agree. I can't say I'm too familiar with The Spirit but from picking up a few TPB's and looking online, it seems far diffrent in tone and look then the movie which basically looks like Sin City redux.

    PG-13

Word on the street says it's absolutely terrible.

I was thinking of seeing it but it looks too much like Sin city. They could at least made the style different.

Very unsure. There are loads of reasons I thought this was a bad idea.

First, this is Frank's directorial debut. He's a great artist, but that doesn't mean his skills will translate to the camera.

Second, the Spirit is Will Eisner's creation, not Miller's. I don't know that it'll work in a 300/Sin City style.

Third, Miller's sucked lately. Read The Dark Knight Strikes Again? All Star Batman? The guy's gone batshit insane, and turned into a parody of his former self. I don't think he can tell a straight superhero story anymore; I expect this to be over the top in completely bizaare and inappropriate ways.

Fourth, I have been a comic reader my whole life. I am neck deep in nerd trivia. But I don't know or care much at all about the Spirit franchise (though I do understand and appreciate Eisner's contribution to the medium). I don't expect the public to embrace this any more than they did The Phantom or The Shadow.

AICN has reviews, but they are brutal towards the film.
I want this to be good, but i am doubtful i will see it in the cineplex.

I admire Sin City and wish for a sequel, but i don't want a dozen clones of it before Sin City 2.

There are great comics (strips/books or pulps) from the earliest of years that has yet to be tapped (Doc Savage, eh?) and i hope get a better treatment.

I am excited for this movie and I think most people will just say it is "ripping" off of Sin City which is an unfair biased against it.

    I can't wait for Christmas day :)

No it's not the guy making it Invented, drew and wrote the Sin City comics and even directed part of the Sin City movie. His comics of late have all been WAY over the top and even more ridiculus than Sin City. And he was doing those as and before directing the Spirit. So many of us are expecting more of the same.

I'm certianly curious to see how this movie turns out; I doubt I'll watch it in the theaters, certainly on DVD, but I hope it doesn't get Massacred because its being directed by Frank Miller. And Yeah, it does remind me of Sin City, which I thought was a rather dull "Comic Book" outside of the overall style and appearances by Elijah Wood, Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, and Jessica Alba, the whole reason I decided to watch aformentioned film.

I had considered watching the movie. I have a lot on my plate and may wait until it's released on DVD.

Still not going to stop some people from thinking its ripping off Sin City, but I think more people are aware of the behind the scenes persons now, and I'm sure the commercials will blaze plenty of "from the creator of Sin City" labels, so that those who are confused will be pretty few.

Probably even more confused if they decide to announce it as "Will Eisner's, The Spirit" afterward too.

I love The Spirit, but i've got zero enthusiasm for seeing it Millerized on screen.

I'd pay serious money to see decently funded animated shorts directly adapted from the sections thougth.

It's definitely not the first review. I've read 4 or so other ones. Not a single positive review yet. Note, the reviews I am referring to are from regular people, not critics.
