Who the hell would pay Pat Lee to certify anything? The man's a crook, plus he can't draw.

I am so tired of the Pat Lee thing. His business was very bad but when people say he can’t draw, they are talking out their ass and following the crowd. If he couldn’t draw, EVERY book wouldn’t have been number one. I was a member here when they came out and people were showing their hauls with 3and 4 of the same copies. It’s the same thing with Lifeild, nobody admits to liking him but he was the number one comic artist at one point..

Of course, it's not possible at all that people simply fall victim to the hype and later realize how bad something they initially liked actually was.

Yes, Liefeld was number one at one point. He still can't draw feet.

    Interesting.
Personally, I don't consider myself to be "talking out of my ass" when I say that Pat Lee is a hideously overrated artist who draws balloon characters, and has no concept of facial expression. This is the dickhead who gave Optimus Prime MOOBS. I hated his shitty art at the time, and I hate it now.
The reason the TF comics were so popular was because since the Marvel G2 run there hadn't been any official TF comic fiction. Not to mention that there were multiple covers for EVERY SINGLE ISSUE (a practice I can't stand, I must admit), which also bolstered the sales tremendously. They were capitalising on comic collectors. I'm one of those. I DID buy pretty much every cover at the start. However when I noticed just HOW appalling the story and art really were, I stopped buying even ONE copy.
He's also a complete asshole who swindled the people who actually made him money out of what they are STILL owed. This includes some people who post on these very boards. Even Simon Furman got conned by this scumbag.
So you know what I'M tired of? People trying to find ways to defend this odious little piece of shit on the grounds that his art isn't quite the most ludicrous looking official TF art we've ever had. I will express my contempt for him at every available opportunity, and I'm not the only one either. Get used to it.

As for Rob Leifield, my opinions on him haven't changed either; he simply can't draw anything but grossly disproportionate caricatures with tiangles on the end of their legs. The end.

What he said. I'm surprised anyone even bothers sticking up for Pat Lee anymore.

    Look, I'm surprised, honest:
