I think the reason Transformers made a lot is b/c of the advertising. I was waiting on my toes for weeks before it came out. The Simpsons just started advertising(well, at least on my crappy channels) 2 or 3 weeks before it came out. I think Simpsons has a larger fanbase, but Transformers had the ads. I still think Simpsons will win, though

I remember the first ep I saw. Homer bought a new RV and took the family on a camping trip. It is still one of my favs.

I want to see the movie and will probably take my son...he loves spider pig and Harry Plopper.

Spider-pig will steal the movie. Even my daughter keeps talking about it. The preview before Transformers peaked my interest more (and I am a big fan of the show)

Early reactions have been good I think, I bet it is really funny.

The Simpsons will do well, and will absolutely take number one at the weekend box office, no question. Chuck and Larry only really won the one weekend because it didn't have any strong brand new competition, and bad word of mouth on it means it's already out of most people's minds. The Simpsons by comparison has a good buzz and so far is the best reviewed summer blockbuster this year by critics, which is enough to get people on the fence to go ahead and see it.

Overall it won't do as well as it would have done if they'd gotten their asses in gear and made the thing in the show's prime 10 years ago as they should have, back then it would have crushed everything for weeks. But I'm sure it will still have a strong opening anyway.

When I went to the final advance screening of Transformers yesterday (theater was packed), Simpsons had two screenings, both fully booked.

I anticipate this film will make more than any others released this summer.

Yeah, those were the best episodes and seasons IMO. The new eps don't seem as funny...

You missed out, there were a few really great seasons after. The episode where Homer moves the family to work for Hank Scorpio is an all time favorite. I agree though, the movie would have done better 10 years ago. I may not rush to the theater, but I will surely watch it on DVD.

I'm actually proud of the Simpsons for waiting this long to finally make a movie.

Saw it tonight. Very funny. I laughed the whole time. Spider pig stole the movie.

Oh, and the first showing I tried to go to sold out an hour and a half before it's time slot. Had to see a later showing. Should do reeeaaally well.
