Ive been a fan of the Simpsons for as long as I can remember, and that trailer was just plain lame. A complete mockery of what the Simpsons used to be. Remember Flaming Moe's? Or how about when Bart got a bigger brother? Or how about when the power plant went on strike? These were classic episodes that I grew up with and helped define the Simpsons. This trailer brings depressing memories of how great the series used to be.

That's becasue they're still busy trying to mash together the scripts from 5 or 6 episodes to make one 'new' movie. They'be been fairly sneaky about it - the season before last they didn't win an Emmy. For last season they made an effort and got two Emmys' This year has been annother stinker so far. So it seems like they're putting what little they have to work with into the movie.

How did the disclaimer from The Itchy and Scratchy movie go again? "Not a recomended source of new animation"?

But it's only a teaser, so I'll just leave it at that.

Aren't some of the better writers from a few years ago doing this?

Simpsons in 2d, eh? Well, that explains why most of that movie footage was cell-shaded CGI.

Oh, wait, no it goddamn doesn't. I'm so freaking sick of cell-shading. Whatever happened to rotoscoping? And God forbid you have some pencil and ink in there. Don Bluth or Ralph Bakshi would be spinning in their graves if one of them would just die already.

That's exactly how I feel about the show. It used to be so great, with real life problems and situations, but then it turned into this random series of fantastic events. Last season was terrible, and I expected them to break out an episode where the Simpsons got "magic powers". This season seems to be returning to a fairly normal life, except last nights episode.

Watching last season was like a chore, which is what Family Guy has become.

Though I've basically turned off the weekly show, I have to confess this trailer made me smile. The recent track record keeps this from being a "must see" at the moment, but if the reviews are good, I may catch a matinee.
