This one has been bugging me for quite a while. Every G1 Autobot car (and thus, its Diaclone Car Robo precedessor) was based on an existing vehicle. The onle exception which apparently took drastic artistic liberty was Sunstreaker, the first release from the Diaclone Car Robo lineup. The giant exposed rear angine doesn't appear to be based on a model that exists in real life.

Well... looks like someone finally found the missing link!

I would still swear I saw a pic of a real car like sunstreaker years ago on the net. anyway Nevermore, I wanted to take a look at that project you had going where people took pics of the toys that mirrored pics of the real vehicles. but I can't find any link to it in that stickied thread. where is it?

Wow that is interesting, the similarities are definately striking between Cosmocountach and Sunstreaker. It still makes me wonder why Sunstreaker and his diaclone forebear stick out like a sore thumb in a range of otherwise realistic cars.

Wow, very cool! I've wondered before where the heck Sunstreaker's car mode came from.

Speaking of Sunstreaker, what's up with the Gobot ripoff of him, Pocket?

    http://www.tfu.info/Gobots/Renegades/Pocket/pocket.htm

I'm thinking this must've been a pretty conscious copycat.... the head design combined with the yellow Countach form seems too close to be coincidental.

Sorry for getting off topic, but I always wondered why Sunstreaker's head was way out of proportion with the other G1 cars...

The model of the car was always interpreted as a custom for me personally.

Maybe , just maybe, it was simply a Diecast Car toy sold to asian children? No big secret or conspiracy involved.... maybe?

i believe the point here is, almost all of the diaclone based cars were based on real life models - case in point, despite being non street models, even mirage and wheeljack were based on actual decos of real life cars. thus, why is sunstreaker unique amongst them? thats how the debate came abt.

    okay, puddin'?
