8th viewing now and this time I noticed something really cool.

its nothing unusual or suprising but remember during the Sector 7 and Autobot meeting? Right when they take the kids back, Ironhide notices Sector 7 cars and Helicopters coming.

So then Ironhide says "incoming!!" and then slams his cannon into the ground causing and EMP to disable the cars.

Most won't notice this because it is normal for the human eye to only focus on things that are in motion and that would be Ironhide doing the EMP thing. But if you look around and look at the Autobots in the background, you will notice that they are all in "ready for war" stances.

Jazz is kneeled down with shield and gun pointing forward ready to shoot. And Ratchet has his "gangster pull" on. If you watched the behind the scenes footage in The Rock Criterion edition DVD, Gangster Pull is what the Military Technical Advisor calls it when a gunman holds his gun sideways or at an angle to provide a more "cool" looking way to shoot. Ratchet apparently has both guns in "gangster pull" style. The scene was really fast so I couldn't catch what Bumblebee was doing. But all of them were ready for battle. It was a very quick but cool scene.

Actually Ratchet was holding his guns in a more Gangster Pull / Equilibrium cleric hybrid style

    AHA!

I wondered what Ironhide was doing in that scene myself,I had thought that he'd slammed his fist in to the floor and ripped up a cable of some sort which had caused the vehicles to short out,
    Hadn't noticed the EMP thing,well spotted:wink:

I think there are so many little things like this that will be noticed upon the numerous DVD viewings at home. I'll have to look for this.

"...I couldn't catch what Bumblebee was doing."

I guess you've got something to look forward to on viewing #9.

Ignore that. Look behind him when the Autobots are checking out of the scene to catch Jazz doing his old school G1 swandive transformation!

It took me at least 3 or 4 viewings to figure out what Ironhide was doing in that scene. First couple of times I just thought he fired his cannon, but kept thinking that wouldn't really make sense: no matter what Ironhide might think of the humans, Optimus had made it clear he didn't want them harmed, and I didn't see a lot of exploding vehicles. Then I thought he shot out their tires but that didn't look right, so I figured he must have done something to disable them. EMP makes sense.

Yep, during this scene you see where the "muscle man pose" Prime came from. :lol  Though he doesn't do it as dramatic, you can still see it.

It's more of a magic space shockwave than an EMP. Either way, IT'S TOTALLY FREAKING RAD. That scene is tight.

Ya I don't know about EMP. That wouldn't cause the rims to spark.

Why don't you guys just look again for yourselves :p  I almost don't want to post this link for fear of the kind of people here who would report it, but come on, this is the age of the internet- instant media, enjoy our times.

Also, the Bumblebee scene at the end is easily the second saddest robot scene EVER right behind the Tachikoma's at the end of First Gig.

It's not emp, it's a ground shockwave that bursts the tires. All the tail lights and headlights are still powered if you watch. Think of it as Ironhide's way of using his canon indirectly without causing harm to the passengers. He shoots the ground so the splatter of the forced pressure on the street would hit the tires. Think like if you you wanted to hit someone with a water gun but couldn't hit them directly. Splash damage. Like shooting rockets at the ground in halo or cluster rocketing a wall next to a guy in UT.

Also on the copter radio before or during rollout, you hear them say. "We could really use some tires." So they also still had working radios. Emp would have knocked out all electronics for awhile within the vehicles, at least till the charge was cleared.
