I'm sorta coming back to the cubes, haven't been solving for a while. Post your algorithms and fastest times here, my fastest is 58 sec.

ha, back in the day we ended up with rubik's clock. it was real cool, there were four barrels you turned to try to get 9 clock faces to all face 12 o'clock. the thing was, there was also faces on the reverse side. you slid four pegs to make the barrels turn different faces, if that makes sense. I worked at it for quite a while before I gave up. I went back to try it again, and it had broken/froze up, and most wouldn't turn anymore.

I just hit 58 seconds today in fact; it is also my best. We all play it at work when we're bored. The fastest time we have running is 42 seconds.

My algorithm is essentially what's in the instructions, but I use a different method of solving the top layer.

Since I'm a computer programmer, I wrote a program that randomly generates a sequence of 25 moves that will randomize the cube. That way when we battle, we all have the same starting cube. The program keeps track of time as well.

I've seen a cube that's actually 2 cubes sharing one corner piece, so it's 2 cubes in 1

I used to have the Magic, but I gave it my old friend and he broke it. He never took care of anything, he even threw out stuff he didn't want instead of sell or keep them. I wish I still had it, it was a Simpsons one with Homer on the rectangle, the family on the semi-square.

I can solve any Rubik's cube, as long as I have a flat-bladed screwdriver. :)

Somewhere around here I've got a cube that was a McDonalds promotion from years back. Each side has names of McD food products on it. I've got a Rubik's magic puzzle too (I can bring a messed-up one back to the rectangle shape eventually. never got the linked-rings shape). I used to have a Rubik's snake (don't think they call 'em that anymore), which was fun to play with. That was more a plastic origami toy than a real puzzle though.

I was going at 1 min flat, and i got 32 once (cuz I got lucky) but I've stopped and rigt before posting this I got 134 so I guess I slowed down...alot

seeing the allspark cubes reminds me that I still have to make my all spark rubik's cube custom! *starts printing stickers*

edit: nvm I'm too lazy to be cutting packaging tape and making homemade stickers atm...

I never got into actually solving it... but I did build one out of paper. Check the link to Cut&Paste Sci-Fi in my sig, go to the non Sci-Fi page.

You rubik's cube solver should try this on for a size :p

It's called "Peters black hole". and it can be solved in three different ways. All sides black. All stars silver or one colour on each side. Hard as hell!

You are aware that you can't be a true 'cube fan unless you've watched every episode of the '80s cartoon, right?

I could never solve them, but for some reason my family gave me variations of the things as gifts for b-days and xmas. I had a few cubes, even the keychain sized ones, the Magic, the sphere (although I don't think it was a real Rubix product, was just a rubix cube as a ball) the snake and the Star (but again I don't think it was a real rubix branded puzzle).
