.....OH, my bad, I mean "Real Steel". YouTube - Real Steel Official Trailer But it is basically Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. Gonna be starring Hugh Jackman. Thing is it actually doesn't look all that bad from the trailer. The CG used for the robots looks to be close to if not on par with ILM in a few shots.
Might be interested, although I generally like my trailers to have at least a little semblance of plot in them so I know what the movie is about at least. I must admit I do appreciate that there's actually something NEW coming out and not another cruddy remake/resurection (like Yogi *shutter*...)
I think that trailer did tell the entire plot actually. Fighter gets beat up and out of the game losing money, hence the scene of him getting mobbed.. Boxers are later replaced by robots Fighter gets the itch to fight again, gets a hold of robot. Fighter has to work his way up again through the corrupt system using his not flashy, but sturdy robot to valiantly once again become a champion!! now of course there will be other minor nuances added in for spice, but thats probably the basic rundown.

I still mantain this should be fun to see. Probably has a ludicrous plot but you never know, it could be the right kind of silly.
Universal Taps Vin Diesel to Lead Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots Movie The film is being penned by Rampage writer Ryan Engle and will follow a father/son duo who form a kinship with an advanced robotic war machine. "To take the classic Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em game, with Mattel as my partner, and align it with the kind of world-building, franchise-making success we have had with Universal, is truly exciting," Diesel said in a statement. Universal did Battleship too, didn't they?
Hey, nice job resurrecting this thread (as opposed to creating a new one). Vin Diesel? Real Steel redux? I have low hopes for this.
Hollywood we have no ideas so we are down to old toys that we think we can make a movie around. up next?
Neat, I like robots / mecha, so I'll probably end up checking it out. Real Steel was a great movie as well, though that movie wasn't actually based on Rock'em Sock'em Robots, it was based on a short story by Richard Matheson just called "Steel", which was also adapted into a Twilight Zone episode.
