I loved the show.. watched it alot on USA (I think). Used to play it in our basement w/ nerf stuff (like the one event w/ the tennis ball launcher).

When they started airing on ESPN Classic here I never missed it. I loved the show back in the day and it's going to be cool to see it returning... Then they must have found out I liked it cause they took ESPN Classic off our basic service.:banghead:

I always loved the Assault for being like a human video game, I wonder how it will look now that video games are more realistic than Assault was.

Hollywood's running out of even recycled ideas now, huh?

If it's done right, though, it could be fun to watch.

This could almost be enough to push me into caring about television again.

    Almost.

    I loved AG.

I always thought it would be fun to rent out the studio with a bunch of friends one night.

    This could be cool.

Go back to bed America, your government has figured out how it all transpired. Your government is in control again. Here, here's American Gladiators. Watch this, shut up. Go back to bed America, here's American Gladiators. Here's 56 channels of it. Watch these pituitary retards bang their skulls together and congratulate you on living in the land of freedom. Here you go America, you are free... to do as we tell you. You are free, to do as we tell you.

I used to love the show, but I saw some bit the other day and I cringed. While I still think the stunts and obstacle courses were some of the best ever, I couldn't help but think that the show was a bit corny. Just my opinion. :)

Its a quote from a song. I have that song but I forget what the song title and artist is. I was waiting for someone to quote the song in this thread, I guess I didn't have to wait that long. :)  I'm gonna be scratching my head until I remember who said that quote though...

Back on topic... I watched AG when I was young. Fun show. But rather silly now that I think about it. I'd rather watch Joes Vs. Pros...

I'm down like a clown, Charlie Brown.

Seriously, I remember staying up until the wee hours of the morning on Saturday nights just to watch this. I love that show. And when Spike reran it a few summers ago, I was watching it every morning.

Awesome. I loved American Gladiators as a kid. I remember I wanted to be a contestant when I grew up, but obviously the show didn't last long enough. And now I'm nowhere near in shape for it. :lol

But this sort of bothers me...

Maybe I'm being a bit pessimistic, but it sounds like: watch the competitors train for half the season, then see them go up against the Gladiators in ONE exciting episode! I hope I'm wrong.

I also hope they keep some of the campiness of the original. That means nicknames for the Gladiators, classic events, and retired football players as the hosts (bring back Larry Csonka!)

And is it weird that I know Variety's photo captioned "The original Gladiators" is wrong because those aren't the season one Gladiators?

*EDIT* Wait, AG is on ESPN Classic? *searches Digital Cable guide* YES! 1:00 am and 7:00 pm! Too bad I'm not going to be home tonight to watch it.
