I know that some people have been wondering why optimus chose jack to take the "big V" key and not a fellow autobot. He could have chosen jack, a human, because optimus may have known that vector sigma was "gaurded" by scraplets and he knew scraplets don't hurt humans.

I wouldn't say it was guarded by scraplets...more like infested with them...otherwise they'd just eat it.

All that build up for "guarded by scraplets"?

Maybe, but he would have given Jack a fire extinguisher as well.

Or because he was the only one who didn't get buttmad over Optimus Prime being gone.

    Sure I guess.

You know, I guess it's a good thing space suits don't have any metal on them, or else Jack would've been screwed, right?

Maybe because Jack really was the only logical choice.
Arcee: Good bot, but has a penchant for grudges.
Rachet: Is slightly unstable at random moments.
Bulkhead: Not much of a thinker.
    Bumblebee: To inexperienced.
Miko: She'd probably lose the key.
Raf: He's not a good decision maker.
Mrs. Darby: Just got to know the bots.
    Fowler: Government gets suspicious?

Because that was the last thing Megatron would expect, a human with the key, he didn't give Jack a second thought, he focused on Arcee and that gave Jack the oppurtunity to pass the matrix on to Optimus. And of course he must see some leadership potential and selflessness in the boy.

That's pretty much it. Jack's the most logical choice.

We know only Decepticon's have the technology for space bridges and would probably build a second. That knocks all the bots out because someone has to take and hold the space bridge.

    Just leaves the humans.

I think Raf had already been hurt. He's also small, weak, and easily scared. He's someone you want watching over everyone else from HQ, not running for their life on another planet.

Miko. Foolhardy and just stop there.

Jack. He has a good head on him. He doesn't run head first into battle, but will not hesitate to run into a battle to save another. Where most would curl into a ball, Jack assesses the situation and acts.

Exactly. That makes him not only the best choice, but the best human sidekick in over two decades.

I don't think Optimus knew about the Scraplets on Cybertron--even the Insecticon seemed to caught off guard when it saw them. Cybertron is a vast wasteland, a dead metallic world, must have looked like shangri la to the Scraplets with no one shooting at them, allowing to eat whatever they wanted and as much as they wanted without having to worry about an iota.

I thought Optimus chose Jack for reason he said in the show, he thought he had earned it. Optimus knows that for him and his race to survive, they will need to work with humans. What better way to earn their trust than to befriend them and welcome them into your inner sanctum?

I love this explanation too. it's real nice and shows that Optimus Prime acknowledges Jack's skills and abilities.

My thoughts exactly. I don't know if Megatron even realized Jack was there at first because he came through after Arcee and she took him by surprise and bowled him over and then led him on a merry chase around the room distracting him.

We don't even know if Megatron saw Jack. For all we know, he probably only saw a little space man. And I'm pretty sure he was focused more on Optimus.

I'm hoping it does come back to bite Megatron in the ass and he realizes how useful humans can be, but I don't have high hopes.

Megatron wasn't even looking for Jack. He told us on screen who he was looking for more than once, Arcee. His gaze was set high enough to spot a Cybertronian, not human.

Exactly. Thus Jack, a human, was way off his radar, even though it was happening right in front of his eyes. Whether or not that will make him think Humanity can be a threat is still in question.

What's funny about this is how he saw our resilience in Raf and continues to write us off. He told Jack that he never forgets a face, and doesn't even notice him standing in the very room he's in until its way too late to do anything about it:lol
