    Hi,

I understand that not everybody here likes TF Prime…but does anyone here know the REAL reason why Prime was cancelled? I’ve heard “reasons” but none of them line up. Please help.

My guess is either a heaping dose of behind the scenes drama, or the creators planned just 3 seasons from the beginning

Always planned for three seasons even after a last minute change to Beast Hunters.

Yeah it was always 3 seasons. They just changed what the 3rd was about originally to Beast Hunters (off memory).

Yes there are 3 seasons but as mentioned, initial plans was not the beast hunters/ predacon theme but a pirate theme using the space pirates and potentially thundertron! As hasbro designed predacon toys, the theme was changed.

Hopefully Transformers Prime gets a season 4 like Young Justice got a season 3.

I would have rather had the pirates for the 3rd season, then an added 4th season has beast hunters with alot more plot planning, and real predacons with some maximals. 3rd season seemed so rushed and disjointed. It was good, but i feel it was still a step down from what we could have had.

As much as I would love that, the new Robots In Disguise series IS what followed the final episode of Prime.

Ha, Spiderus' quote flat out mentions a 4th Season, yet the next three posts all repeat "it was meant to be three seasons". Gotta love clarity.

I vaguely remember Hasbro/showrunners being a LOT more optimistic at the beginning. As in "we got stories for years, let's make this last a full decade!" optimism, no hint of this being just a syndication-minimum 65 episode series.

What if they did TFP from the perspective of other characters in other places. I loved that show. The animation, the story all of it

Perhaps that's true, but plans change. The show was way too expensive to animate for any of the ideas mentioned in that post, and it's been said that they were burning through their doable ideas for the show at a faster pace than expected. They may have once hoped to have the show go on for ages, but that doesn't mean that, by time they were making season three, nobody on the show felt it was time for the show to end.

    That would feel redundant.

Young Justice ended before it was suppose to, Prime ended on its own terms and we got RID anyways, and it's continuing off of some things Prime left often.

I mean that's serious tone that prime had, and now this (RID) what a slap in the face.
