The real problem with the movie. No, not the designs.

I just read the novel (fantastic btw) and was annoyed by the whiny bitch that is Glen, the hacker who helps Maggie in Washington. He lives with his Grandmother, doesn't shut up, cries at everything, and LOVES Fruitty Pebbles (They are obviously trying to go ET with that if that appears in the movie).

After I finished I decided to see who will play Glen. The right person could make it funny. Look at Vince Vaughn in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Same type of character. Played it great. But now I know who will play him:

Yes. Anthony Anderson, the guy from Kangaroo Jack and Scary Movie. God damn it. At least its not a Waylon brother. This will be the downfall of a film that appears to be an asskicker.

So you are annoyed at who they got to play the annoying character? Isn't that the point of an annoying character?

It's the character himself. Anderson has been known to play VERY annoying parts. This is the perfect part for him.

But the part just flat out sucks. Jar Jar Binks sucks. He is that annoying.

I've read the leaked Feb. '06 script, and I can agree. Glen is ANNOYING. He's gonna make Wheelie, Orko, and Jar Jar look normal.

After reading the book, my feeling was that the character just isn't necessary.

A normal, non-turbonerd techie would have sufficed just fine. Attempted comic relief that fails is the worst... I'm very very positive about the movie, but disappointed with that particular character (as well as the choice of actor).

Personally I find him funny and one of his best performances comes from harold and kumar go to white castle. :) )

but generally the guy is a better actor than most give him credit for hell he was in the departed so he couldnt be all that bad even if it was a small role

I ask you... are over-the-top, non-credible "comedy relief" characters REALLY necessary in media aside from a Scooby-freaking-Doo cartoon?

That kind of "funny" crap sure didn't make anyone feel better that they paid money to watch the American Godzilla movie a decade ago.
