The real problem with Soundwave...

    ...is that his CG didn't look on par with the other robots'.

    I did, however, thoroughly enjoy how creepy he was with his
    hacking tentacles.

    i think it may have seemed that way because he wasn't interacting with a real environment

    Compared to being in a ground environment with so many varied things to reflect (Clouds/horizon/ground), space isn't exactly the most complex environment. Even actual photos of ships in space look somewhat surreal because of the one light source and empty backgrounds (zomg conspiracy!)

    its the tentacles but tentacles have never looked good on CG because of the nature of its physics, the fact that it is somewhat organic looking.

    Look at Alice's tongue and tail, it was the worst CG in the movie

    I didn't notice anything wrong with his CGI.

    Then again I was watching it in a relatively new cinema that was recently refitted with brand new screens.

    Maybe some people were just watching on older screens.
