An interesting little breakdown of a problem these boards unfortunately suffer from.

I don't think this place particularly suffers from trolls, no more than anywhere else. I think it suffers from spoiled man-children who love to bitch and moan whenever things don't go their way.

I believe what you see as trolling is merely the more well adjusted members of this forum, who are tired of the inescapable bitching and moaning, calling the man-children on their bullshit.

I don't know much about the psychology of trolls, but I DO know they've got active regeneration abilities, but have massive problems with fire and sunlight. They prefer dark places, like under bridges.

That video is really over analyzing it. Especially on these forums, calling someone a troll is usually a knee-jerk reaction to someone simply disagreeing with you. It's akin to blaming scalpers for hard-to-find toys.

Bridges are the best place to hang under, yo.
This video does over analyse it. Tl;Dr explanation of trolls: Assholes you should just ignore.

So there's a guy that spends 70 hours on the internet simply trolling? Strange.

Now that is an example of mental illness. You'd think he'd take a break to sleep or something...Hell admitting you spend 70 hours on the internet to troll opens up possibilities of good counters to you. Bad troll is bad.

^ Good troll is good. Now he's inciting pity from people for how much of a sad sack he really is.

I see what he did there...I was thinking more in terms of being in a argument. Of course the fact that trolling has achieved this attention means

They said 70 hours per week, not at once.

We talked about this sort of thing in my psych class a little bit last year. Very interesting stuff. I think some kinds of trolling are okay (I even enjoy watching them), such as those found on the Art of Trolling section of Memebase.com, but it can get way out of hand, such as the "RIP" trolling they mentioned.

Oh okay. Still that's a lot of time dedicated to trolling. Like you said, trolling can be enjoyable if done right, but most of the time it goes to far.

Yes, we all know the rules. Nobody is trolling in this thread though, or at least not yet, no need to point the rule out.

I'm almost positive that that's never happened, at least while I was here.

Due to how many people have told him otherwise on stuff like this, yes. But I suspect he may be mentally handicapped, so I figure we should give him a break. It's not really causing problems anyway, just a wtf reaction.

Honestly, if someone needs to spend that much time on their "craft", or even break the rules doing it, they're nowhere near being a good troll, let alone worthy of an article. Also if nothing else, "trolling" message boards in itself isn't even original anymore like it was maybe a decade ago, so most of it just comes out like a modern rehashing of the whole "Is your refrigerator running", minus of course the cleverly vintage connotations that make shit like that still funny at times.
