How the repaint should have been.
Great work. If Elita-1 absolutely had to be a repaint, it really should have been this.
and it wouldnt have been that hard to remold slightly for a wheel hand, I mean delux ratchet and ironhide... really? unless elita is her own and flare-up is still the third sister...
it isnt Hasbro said they changed the name from Flare up to Elita-1
Yeah, this is the mold that should have been used
That looks WAAAAAAAY better. Job well done.
Excellent work. Iwish this is how Elita-1 was repainted. rather then the stupid Chromia repaint that isnt even the right colours. Curse you Hasbro!
Nah , maybe i could modify an Arcee to look like Elita-1
This digibash is really good! nice work!
This is excellent. Hasbro should take some pointers from you.
Very cool! You know, you're right; this wouldn't bee too hard to pull off, custom-wise.. Hmm...
Y'know, her left arm still has the wheel spoke (I dunno motorcycles), all someone would have to do is mod the toy so one wheel stays on it rather than come down and merge with the other wheel.
Totally awesome job btw.
Exactly. If i remove the left hand and make it so that wheel can swivel forward.. All I'd have to do is make her handlebars rotate and figure out the giant fingers, and that's the upper body sorted. Next would be the bottom wheel and giving her the right bike mode..
Oh man, and when I go and investigate, the bikes are so similar! Elita-1 just has one headlight instead of two. If I buy the shitty Elita-1 toy and cannibalize it into an Arcee, I can totally make a proper one.. ::scheme, scheme::
Glad I picked up a spare Arcee last fall. Once the weather around here improves I'm planning to customize it almost exactly the same way you've digibashed her.
Yeah, I was looking at my Arcee figure while I was making this digibash, thinking the same thing. I think for a really skilled kitbasher it probably wouldn't be that hard to do.
The only thing though is you'd have to make a completely new stand for her.
Not necessarily. You could just fill in the stand she comes with with some styrene/putty etc. to make the grip tighter.
The second I saw that piss poor excuse of an Elita from the toy fair I went striaght on eBay and bought another Chromia and Arcee. The Chromia to see if I can work out the combination and the Arcee to turn into a proper Elita-1...
Watch this space.
This does look better. Now I'm bothered, and I was trying to accept the Hasbro Eltia-1
I'm going to hold off and actually pick up Elita. Two reasons; for one, god only knows if she'll have a new connector piece or a second head or something that we can't see in that photo. It may be necessary to bash those new bits with Arcee before all three will combine, which is something I'd really like it to still do. For another, I know exactly how obtuse companies like Hasbro are, and if this new Elita figure doesn't sell, they may read that as a general disinterest in the character or in female 'bots, rather than a disinterest in a crummy repaint. I'd rather they believe that the character is popular and they should revisit it at some point, rather than that they were right to not invest any more money into her toy due to perceived fan apathy.
Don't get me wrong, I'll pick up Elita as well when she comes out. It's just now I know that she's a Chromia re-paint I can start fiddling to work out the combination now because I'm an impatient sod, and by modding the Arcee I'll have a screen accurate Elita as well.
So in total by releasing their toy fair pics Hasbro have effectively sold me 3 new deluxe toys.
Well played, Hasbro. Well played...
