I would like one but unfortunately don't have the spare change to get one right now.

As much as I mocked it when it was first shown, I really want one, but not for that kind of money. A Reluctant pass for me.

Those HD-DVD Emblems on the wings are awesome!

I'd get it if it was cheaper. I do think the colors are awkward, but it would be a cool piece to have.

What did you pay? Do you guys think these are as limited as a lucky draw?

Christ on a bike that's a steep price. Maybe for $250 less at most, but I don't see one of these becoming part of my collection unless I win a few lotteries.

It is a toy related thread, so is better suited to the Transformers toy section.
    Don' worry about it.

With HD DVD dead (much to my disapointment) who will buy the HD DVD player that the toy comes with?

Especially in Japan were the format has virtually faded from existence.

Is there a Japan version of the movie with Japanese text?

Yes- the film was released in Japan with an all-Japanese voice cast that featured Tessho Genda as Optimus Prime, who voiced the character in Japanese G1.

The figure is probably more valuable than the HD-DVD player on the secondary market.

Given the cost of getting the figure in Japan in the first place, if you really want it, I think you'll probably have little choice but to bite the bullet and get it for that price. It's not as if you can expect a cheap Hasbro alternative down the road, the way people who got the Lawson's Blackout felt after the revelation of the Premium Blackout.

    :lol

I love this phrasing--implies the HD-DVD player is like an added incentive to buy the Starscream. Only we would automatically see it that way.
