I really dug the effects in that movie, more so then DOTM. All the work WETA put into making the apes look as real as possible and making them emotive and expressive, deserves to be recognized imo. Also, I'm still ticked off that Serkis didn't get nominated for Best Actor. He carried that film and without him, the film wouldn't have been as good.
What's going to be funny is that if Hugo best picture it will enrage a lot of people who might have otherwise liked it. Winning BP automatically makes any movie seem overrated to a lot of folks on the internets.
Oh I agree. Serkis is what makes it a great film. And he should have been nominated. I hate the Oscars for a number of reasons...they have an anti sci-fi/fantasy/horror bias. Hugo is cleaning up because they love its director. They play favorites.
Sigh. Hugo, Hugo, Hugo. The biggest troll on the planet now. I'm surprised it won over Dark of the Moon or Apes.
Wow what a fucking surprise. That's unfortunate, I would have rather seen Harry Potter take it than Hugo. They have enough awards already they just have to ruin it for everyone else.
