Tough call as I like both bands, but if I had to pick one it'd be Weezer because they've got a bit more creativity with their songwriting than Offspring.
In this case, let's define it as "worth spending money to buy one of their albums." Is this contest going to be physical or academic? Weezer's got some weak girly frames compared to a bunch of amped up punkers, but Quomo went to Harvard, man.
Not sure about the harvard thing, but Dexter, apparently, has a masters and almost got his PHD, but he dropped out for the band. Rivers looks nerdy, but can Dexter out nerd him...hmmm And Offspring talks a big game, but are really on the pop side of punk rock.
I don't care for Weezer at all, but Offspring on the other hand has made a few songs I like. Advantage: Offspring
This is too much of a toss up, but I have to say Weezer. Beverly Hills and Memories are my favorites by them and I like them more than most of the songs by The Offspring.
Weezer. Their songwriting may seem simple on the surface, but there's some pretty amazing brainpower behind their pop-rock sensibilities. Offspring are just punkers who come up with a good riff occasionally.
I used to like Offspring back in the late 90's and I bought a couple of their CD's. But I lost touch about them since.
